    I'm considering going.

On the one hand, I spent years wishing to see Giorgio Petrosyan live during his K-1 & It's Showtime! days...and now he's coming almost to my doorstep (four hour bus ride to NYC, that's nothing).

On the other hand, I've read the four-man tourney with his belt on the line is going to be a bit drab and uncompetitive with notably missing names like Souwer and Petrosyan's old white whale, BPP.

The full lineup isn't yet finalized, although tickets are on sale already.

$40 at the low end (up to near $300 for ringside), plus bus fare - so the question becomes whether finally seeing Giorgio, if only to dominate an outmatched field, is worth it?

I would go if I were you man... Should be a good card. Though opportunities like this MAY come up more often if Glory is successful, they signed a deal with spike so they've already had more success in the states than K-1 has ever had.

That was my initial thought - better to hold out for a better challenge for GP? - but yeah, what if they have folded by 2014?

    They prohibit MMA, not kickboxing.

    Glory is a kickboxing promotion.

Really the MMA forum is the wrong place for a thread on kickboxing, but so is the General Boxing Forum. Even when there was a Lounge, it didn't really make sense to put kickboxing threads in there as it was more for anything but combat sports discussion...so they've always wound up just getting put here despite it being a completely different sport from MMA. :conf

Your typing too much sense for the troll. He is on auto-reply hence not even knowing Glory is kickboxing.

Don't know why eastside has a MMA forum these days.

Thanks for clearing that up.Kickboxing is a pretty good fan friendly sport-unlike the limp wristed ballerina's that "compete" in the MMA.
As a New York City boy,I applaud the continued position that prohibits the UFC and others in this like minded "sport" to ply their trade in this great State.:deal

    White whale? :huh

Buakaw isn't a Glory fighter he fights for the FTRs Thai promotion Max having left the other FTR promotion Thai Fight. I think ATG Seanchai is the only Thai on Glory despite being pretty new to KB rules. By the way it hasn't been Por. Pramuk for quite sometime now, its his own gym name of Benchamek.

It's an expression in the English language, from the novel Moby Dick. The story focuses on a captain with an obsessive drive to kill the whale but he never can manage.

It basically means Buakaw is his arch-nemesis.

Easy easy tiger! I didn't mean it like that but got ya, it's good analogy. Thought you were doing some kind of negative play on his name which translates as "white lotus".

There was talk last year about a FTRs rematch in Thailand, but nothing's come of it. Petro seems to have an aversion to FTRs and Buakaw's to busy being a celebratory on the Thai celeb scene, his heads not really in it any more.

That is too bad. If there was enough money offered would there be any reason Buakaw couldn't meet up with him in Glory? :think

Like, would that violate his FTR contract or something?

Yeah, he is currently getting sued by Thai Fight for 100 million baht for leaving the Thai Fight promotion for Max. The same thing would happen if he fought for Glory. Thai deals are mostly exclusive and more akin to modern day slavery. Remember most most guys are purchased and owned from childhood in a very very very well oiled and traditional fight scene where 50-50 cuts are normal & much less than that when fighting abroad. It's very very hard to go against the established status quo so few do.

That being said, like everything in Thailand If the right people got the right number it'd happen, but to be honest I think Buakaw isn't looking for tough fights anymore particularly under kickboxing rules although I reckon he'd get serious and fight Petro under FTRs although Petro seems to be allergic to fighting Thais FTRs even though he comes out of an MT background.
