    Guys,

    Hoping you can help

Am looking to get back into shape and am about to invest in a heavy bag and gloves.

Am pretty much set on a Ringside 4ft bag but am still undecided about gloves.

Have been looking at Ampro Madison MkII's and Ringside Super Pro Spars but when digging around on forums for reviews have also seen people rave about Hayabusa Tokushu's and Fairtex.

    Could you make some recommendations?

    Thanks in advance

I'm not aware of which brands you can get in UK. My personal experience:

-Any Title Gel bag glove are recomendable, they are light, durable and pretty confortable.

-So far the best boxing glove I've owned are the Cleto Reyes Hook and Loop 16 oz, a little more expesive than other brands but excellent in almost every single aspect (compact, wrist prottection, durability, pop in the impact, etc). Of course this is a good choice IF you are going to stay active in the sport (years).

-Hayabusa Ikusa: a friend has a pair in 16 oz and the wrist support is awesome. They are a little wide but well padded and can stand a lot of constant punishment without any problem.

    - I don't know is there is a particular issue in my country but just in case: avoid any Everlast or Adidas gloves.

Also I would consider to look for some 'national' brands in the UK, like Londsdale or RDX. I've heard some good things about them and I guess those would be cheaper, but I haven't used them so do your homework: try them and if you buy them leave a comment .. you can help a lot of people too.

I was in a similar position very recently (so recent infact that my gloves only arrived yday :p)

Similar position whereby I was looking for some good reviews - but its hard hard enough trying to get some reviews on brands available in the UK - decided to take a gamble on the Ringside Pro Training Glove

So arrived yesterday, nice compact glove, love the feel of them but do feel liek they need broken in a bit but I am happy with my purchase :)
I'l only know about the quality and longevity in the coming months and see how they hold up

I've been using 16 oz Title Gel World Training gloves for a little over a year. They were a little heavy at first compared to other 16 oz gloves I tried, but they fit really well and just felt like a better quality glove. I also felt no pain or discomfort when using them to hit the heavy bag. After a few months, I guess the gloves started to break in and the fit started to get looser and looser over time. Eventually it felt like my hands were sliding around in them. A little shy of a year of usage, the stitching in the lining inside the left glove tore open near the tips of my fingers. This tear grew bigger with more use to the point maybe all of the inside of the glove around the knuckles had disappeared, and I think it led to the padding getting damaged somehow because my left hand started to hurt after that. Just a few days ago the stitching in the lining inside the right glove tore open as well, and some weird plastic-bag-looking material started coming out.

Overall I was satisfied with the gloves until they started falling apart. For the price I thought they'd last a little longer. I just ordered a cheap pair of Title Pro Style Leather Training Gloves as a replacement for the time being. If these don't last very long either, I might have to just invest in some more expensive gloves.
