Does anyone know much about gloves? not wanting to buy my own just know more about why certain fighters choose the gloves they do.

I've heard many people say Grant gloves like Mayweather's are for big punchers - even though he isn't much of a puncher? Is that just the weight of the glove distributed away from the knuckle area??

What other gloves are popular and why?

Grants have always been known to be used by fighters who have a history of hand injurys guys like mayweather , calzaghe and bernard hopkins etc , only in recent years have they started producing the so called punchers glove , Cleto Reyes always had the label oof being a punchers glove due to the lack of padding in the knuckle area and filled with horsehair rather than foam padding also known to assist in cuts

Grant makes a punchers glove for guys like Golovkin as well as an orthopedic glove for Mayweather.

Cleto Reyes are generally considered the hardest hitting, possibly hardest on the hands as well. However, you dont see it get much use in 10oz in higher weight classes . I guess its more of a 8oz glove.

Everlast is doing well for themselves lately with many top fighters using it too.

Canadian fighters on Canadian shows often wear Rival (canadian boxing equipment brand).

The traditional punchers glove told by many people over the years Reyes.Grant seems also becoming more popular.

The weight distribution of the glove as well as shape and horsehair all factors with Reyes plus and minuses if hand issues.

Grant seems to be very popular also with the modern day heavy hitter .

Agreed about Reyes, best punchers gloves but they are the hardest on your hands. Grant used to be for speed only, but more and more punchers have been using them, for example David Haye.
