Jessie Vargas is nothing special and never will be. He is a Bob Arum creation that no one bit on. I feel like his only true fan is Seckbach, and who the hell isnt Seckbach a fan of? He doesnt have the talent, doesn't have the power, and his style makes for garbage television. Sorry to the 4 fans out there who thought he should have won the fight, you truly know **** about boxing.
I haven't watched that fight, but someone said his DeMarco win was controversial - that win got him the Bradley fight. And DeMarco is completely washed up. Vargas can't even use his jab properly in a fight where he has 2'' reach advantage. Bradley was too reckless after the third round and he couldn't land a good counter until the last 20 seconds. He doesn't deserve to be in the ring with the top 10.
He lost the Josesito Lopez fight too IMAO. Even though I watched it in a bar and wasn't that concentrated in the scoring.
That right hand was very special, he had Bradley out on his feet in the 12th. In boxing, one punch can change a fight, and one punch did change a fight last night. This felt a lot like Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor, only in this one the fight was waived off with 10 seconds left, at a time where Bradley was hanging on for dear life! The rules state clearly that you can't be saved by the bell in any round, including the 12th and final round. In this case the fight was "waived off" 10 seconds before the final bell, so therefore the result is inconclusive. The ending of Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor was hotly debated, but in contrast to that ending, Vargas vs Bradley had an ending that was a much more clear cut violation of the Unified Rules of the Association of Boxing Commissions. I don't think they have any choice but to rule it a technical draw and order an immediate rematch. A rematch is good for business anyhow, as it was a FOTY candidate. It would be wrong for Vargas to be announced as having a loss when he was in position to stop a badly-rocked Bradley and the final round ended early at such a critical moment. The ways that a boxing match can end before the final bell is by disqualification, if a fighter is KO'd or deemed too hurt to continue by the referee (TKO). If that didn't happen, then the fight never really ended.
nothing special about that right hand Timothy got complacent walking into it Vargas didn't belong in the ring with him...he doesn't belong in the ring with any Top 10 Welter. Even the top lightwelters all beat him...Matthysse would knock him out. The only reason he got off lightly yesterday was Timothy has no power...but Tim still beat the **** out of him!
Didnt he also drop his left hand while trying to throw the right? He made a huge error in defence and almost paid dearly for it.
