Dude, I barely have time these days to watch these three minute videos, let alone a 40 minute long fight!!

But, as I recall, I had the first one close for Shumenov. The second fight I never saw.

:yep I hear ya. If not for my having such a permissive and sanctifably patient wife and completely ignorant and laissez-faire boss there wouldn't be near as much time for me to get away with feeding my addiction both at home and work. :D Charmed life...

Cool, yeah, how I originally had it as well some years back. I think if you are going to land on either side of a draw by a point or so it would be on Beibut's side, as the least firm round or two are ones that went Guapo's way on my new card.

As for Walsh vs. Appleby, treat yourself when you can. Not just the UK FOTY in 2011 but a runnerup candidate for planetwide.

OK, I'm hiding out in here until 5pm, not even going to click on "Forum Home" or any of the sub-forum links so as to avoid Vázquez vs. Shafikov spoilers (was at boxing class this morning when it happened live; holding out for the HBO2 delayed broadcast at 5pm EST preferably without knowing the result...)

Quincy...Busty...thanks for the moral support...you guys feel like having a crack at either Campillo vs. Shumenov I and/or Walsh vs. Appleby? :deal

Could someone, so this doesn't feel like a complete waste of my time?

Like I said earlier, you definitely don't have to sit down and take in a whole fight at once. In fact, it serves your scoring better if you walk away from each round and come back later for the next one. That actually ensures you are scoring appropriately, RBR with each frame existing independently of its predecessor or successor - and not falling into traps like "scoring momentum" or the "Ships Passing In The Night" fallacy, where Boxer A has been winning rounds but suddenly lessens up his efforts while Boxer B kicks it up a notch - but where if that were not the case, it would still be Boxer A's round. People too often will sympathize with the guy making a relative comeback and award him a round that follows a rough stretch, or which ends a period of very clear dominance for his opponent.

So for example go ahead and just do 1 or 2 rounds at a time, post your scores and synopses, and then save the rest for later...or a rainy day.

I agree , great thread IB.

I might add, I know the point of your thread , but I really dont get the time these days to watch many fights and actually read your RBR's after the fight.

I would appreciate your analysis on Mayweather vs Hatton if you get the chance.

    peace.

My scorecard for Shumenov vs. Campillo I.

Fight watched start to finish, no replaying any sections, with short notes taken in the minute between rounds.

    Round 1, 10-9 Shumenov
Very clear. Pushed him around. As usual Shumenov spent a lot of energy but Campillo clearly feeling it out, throwing only a handful of punches.

    Round 2, 10-9 Shumenov, 20-18 Shumenov
Campillo shows a pulse and lands educated shots, but ultimately too few. Shumenov wins with his crude aggression. Shumenov's movement backwards is yet to be a negative in "ring generalship."

    Round 3, 10-9 Shumenov, 30-27 Shumenov
Campillo's ineffective pressure in a round Shumenov made a lot of mistakes in let him down. Shumenov took momentum back with the mid round flurry and held off Campillo from anything beyond 1-2's.

    Round 4, 10-9 Campillo, 39-37 Shumenov
First round Campillo is active enough to overcome early point deficit Shumenov establishes out of the gate. Campillo lands good punches including a showcase beaut uppercut toward the end. Blocks Shumenov greatly over the last two minutes.

    Round 5, 10-9 Shumenov, 49-46 Shumenov
Pretty close. Frustrating for Campillo as it was much like the 3rd round. Campillo actually missing shots and looking poor with his placement for first time all fight.

    Round 6, 10-9 Campillo, 58-56 Shumenov
A stalking Campillo begins to walk Beibut down and land shots at will, despite Shumenov's usual pattern of big early flurry and occassional hard shot through the guard or sweeping to the body. Campillo looks comfortable for the first time in the fight.

    Round 7, 10-9 Campillo, 67-66 Shumenov
More or less, probably less on both fighters' accounts, of Round 6.

    Round 8, 10-9 Shumenov, 77-75 Shumenov
Both have successes and failures with what they've been trying to do all fight. Slightest edge to Shumenov in this seemingly toss-up-ish round, largely on activity. Too much activity.

    Round 9, 10-8 Shumenov, 87-83 Shumenov
Campillo appears to be taking advantage of a tired Shumenov, clearly winning the round, until getting clipped and going down. Maybe 25% slip. 100% legit, though. Shumenov contempt with the +2 advantage gained in the round and moves until the bell.

    Round 10, 10-9 Campillo, 96-93 Shumenov
With exaggerated bending of the waist and foot movement, Shumenov avoids action all round in a clear effort to survive. Very close to a 10-8 round.

    Round 11, 10-9 Campillo, 105-103 Shumenov
Not as dominant as the last round, but these Campillo rounds are clearer than the earlier and middle rounds. Campillo now besting every single exchange and landing with good accuracy. His finding of his range is impressive and unstoppable by a gassed Shumenov.

    Round 12, 10-8 Campillo
Shumenov starts by having his best round in several. He looks to be impressively mustering will and courage in fighting back until getting dropped by a straight to the body. Then, he musters will and courage for another reason. He makes it to the final bell with a few more exaggerated waist bends and head tilting.

    Final score: 113-113 Draw

IB, we have the same score but VERY different means of getting there... Interesting and fun stuff! A pleasant fight to watch indeed.

    FINALLY! :ibutt

    Someone plays along...page six.

    I'll take it. :!:

Yeah, it would seem we saw the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 11th the opposite way...and I can see where you were coming from with all those. Twas just that kind of fight.

Did you catch Walsh vs. Appleby back when it happened, or since? If not, and if you're up for something even more fun than (and just as close as) Campillo vs. Shumenov I, have a peek. :good

I started watching & scoring it on saturday, but my GF had another ideas about what I should do with my free time... like cleaning my home :|

I'm afraid I've not idea about scoring, but I saw the first five rounds and... Shumenov starts the rounds agressively, throwing those wide combinations for the first 30 or 45 seconds, and then backpedals for two minutes without landing nothing. Campillo blocks most of his loaded punches and them walks him down for two minutes and scores IMO the cleaner shots (Campillo's pillowfist trademark :deal).

I'll try to find a moment tomorrow to finish the work and upload my scoring.

    Pwill-Martinez I next week? :happy
