Greatest comeback in a fight, especially considering Moore's age.Jack Sharkey is the referee.:good

Was Holt that close to getting a title shot? I didn't know that.

Anthological fight, indeed. And Archie was 42 years old at the time!

It would probably be stopped by the referee, today. I've lost count of the times I've watched this fight.:good

This fight has nothing on Byrd/Williamson, or Klitschko/Ibragimov.

I was actually ringside for this one. It was actually a bit depressing, that the atmosphere was so overwhelmingly negative as the rounds progressed in this one. Bad clash of styles for the historic unification bout that it was at the Garden.

An even bigger shame as BOTH were capable of much better. How'd you manage to get through that one man?

For the first half of the fight, I continued to expect Wlad would ultimately nail him with something big, but it soon became obvious that Ibragimov was a bit smarter and more effective at doing his thing than I was guessing earlier.

Wlad didn't have a US fight for years after that if I'm not mistaken.

Archie beat him easier in the re-match.

Top 5 all time for sure. Archie Moore was incredible.

Don't forget Moore was 42 years old at the time of this fight. BHop has nothing Moore who I think would wipe the floor with Bhop, and I'm not a guy who thinks the old guys were always better than the new guys.

    Klompton,

Take a look at Moore in the Durelle rematch. Moore destroyed Durelle in one of his finest performances, his speed and reflexes were fantastic that night. Moore took him much more seriously, and showed the difference in class between the two

Another useful factoid: Archie Moore was the inspiration for the disco anthem "More, More, More!" :good:-(
