Lewis never lost at his PEAK.

He was hardly at his PEAK whilst lying on the ground aginst Rahman or McCall.

    Based on being KO'd twice?

That might be fair. Dubious, seeing as they were also the only 2 times he was ever off his feet despite facing a lot of punchers, but fair enough.

(altho personally I think Briggs knocked Lewis down in Rd1)

    Me too. Like Valuev.

I think most would agree that "prime" means the time in a fighter's career when he was at his absolute peak mentally and physically...not simply a snapshot of the fighter when he gave his best performance. A few great examples are Jerry Quarry and Hector Camacho. Quarry's best wins were against Lyle and Shavers but he was far past his absolute peak...which included wins over lesser known contenders like Mac Foster and Buster Mathis. Camacho's highest profile wins are against Mancini, Ramirez and Rosario but his absolute peak was at 130, where he was unstoppable.

He wasn't even a great attraction...far too nice for a giant. Somebody needed to work on him to get him more like the giant from the Persian Army in 300.

Guys that were never stopped or not stopped until late in their career, past prime, are impressive...never been stopped is very impressive. If a fighter can take beatings like Ali did while so past it...how could he ever be smashed in his prime? He's in another league than Lewis. Prime Unbeatable

Name one fighter who beat a focused peak Lewis.

    There is none.

a motivated bjpenn would. lol jk. wrong forum. i kinda agree and kinda disagree. in the case of lewis no one owned him. he got ko'd twice and both were avenged very easily.

however against the greats that big chin would have been tested.

is lewis under rated ... yes. would he walk through ali, foreman and all without having that chin tested? unlikely.

Lewis got caught flush by Tyson and Tua and Mercer and so on.

No-one could crack his chin when he was right.

Against McCall he was green and uninterested and had out of the ring problems. It was kind of like when Witherspoon caught blown by Bonecrusher.

Tyson has the best in history out out of all top fighters.

Everyone else can be KOED with one punch. Tua fought scared against Lewis because he knew one punch would finish him.

tyson had the best what in history?

chin...id say a lot of guys. of the GOAT'ers id say foreman ...(kayod once by ali) or Ali himself ...(never knocked out by anyone in all the competition he faced) were contenders. also oliver mccall (gave lennox lewis free shots and then laughed them off) was a pretty formidable chin. he was tysons sparring partner to be fair.

god i loved that fight. the trouble with tyson is was he out of prime or was his game exposed. that is the eternal question.

Lewis looked awful in that fight. They both did. I hate to admit it, but Lewis was done by that stage. Even up against a younger man he struggled.

Tyson also looked bad. But it only showed his awesome chin.

Same with Lewis. He was slower than I have seen him, yet it only showed his power.

Exactly. And Lewis is overrated on this list, as is unfortunately often the case. Holyfield should be there instead. Unlike Lewis, he was never taken out early by fighters on the level of McCall or Rahman, and he fought other top guys in his era, like Bowe and Tyson, when it mattered, rather than when they were old, like Holyfield and Tyson were when Lewis fought them.
