Pacquiao is H2H the best fighter ever at 122 pounds. His only competition is Erik Morales.

    1. Sanchez, Nelson, Saddler, Pep, Marquez, Arguello never made 122

    2. Zarate, Al Brown are too small

    3. Pacquiao is all wrong stylistically for Gomez

    4. Pacquiao destroyed Barrera at 126 and does the same at 122

    5. Pacquiao would be favored to KO Morales at 122. Let's not forget Morales was almost stopped by Barrera at 122 and Morales was draining really hard to 122.

Pacquiao really is the best 122 pounder of all time H2H. Featherweight is actually his most dominant weight class though where he peaked. But the quality of competition is so good at 126 though. Featherweight is arguably the most stacked division of all time. I actually think 126 is the best division in boxing history.

Barrera, Morales and Gomez were all better 122 pounders than Pacquaio:deal

Barrera got killed at 126. You really think H2H Barrera can beat Pacquiao at 122? No he cannot.

Morales lost two of three at 130 pounds, plus he was the bigger man. The fight being at 122 is to Pacquiao's advantage.

Gomez is a great fighter and would beat most 122 pounders. He's actually not worse than Pacquiao really. Stylistically though it's just a nightmare matchup for Gomez.

Barrera was better at 122 and I'd put money on it that Barrera that fought Morales in the first fight would beat 1 dimensional Pacquaio at 122...

Pacquiao only used 1 dimension to beat Barrera at 126 though. Don't get me wrong Pacquiao's a better fighter at 126 than 122. But at 126 he didn't really use much trickery to beat Barrera. His angles were good. But it was mostly just a physical overwhelming. His speed, power and stamina were too much for Barrera to handle. The same would happen at 122.

And I'm not so sure Barrera was better at 122. He had a great performance at 122, 126 and 130. In my opinion he was best at 126 because that's where his boxing skills came into there own. Check out his fight against Hamed.

Barrera was nearly 4 years younger when he was at 122... He would beat Pac at 122 and I'm sure Morales would have too.

Barrera was 26-29 years old at 126 pounds. You realize that many great fighters have their primes at that age? Barrera was not as intelligent at 122. Take a look at his Jones losses. He started his prime around 1999 or 2000.

Morales would not beat Pacquiao at 122. He gets Knocked out. He would have been finished late. Morales was drained at 122. He would rehydrate to ridiculous weights at 122 pounds and faded late in the Barrera fight.

He was easily beaten by Morales at 122 pounds though. Sure Jones was decent, but Barrera was one dimensional until sometime around 99-00. You can see how much more intelligent he was later in his career. Barrera for most of his time at 122 pounds was a slugger and not the master boxer he would later become.

It really is funny how this played out...
Jones beats Barrera, Morales beats Jones, Barrera beats Morales....

I agree. Although I just wish Barrera could have fought Jones in 2000 instead of 1997. Because I really do feel Barrera made significant technical improvements.

Or perhaps not. Maybe for some reason Jones would always beat Barrera.

Jones was knocked out by Johnson, Medina, McKinney, Morales and Ingle. He had a glass jaw.
