Excellent stuff! I love Ali but he never wins this fight in 71 against Frazier. I think Ali's ego was too big at this stage in his career, especially for the relentless Frazier who fought a perfect fight that night. Ali's ego was too big that night but when wasn't it? That is what made Ali such a special fighter.
Frazier was an inspired force of nature on the night of March 8, 1971, that's all I can say,...regardless of what else Joe accomplished for the rest of his career.....on that night he was peerless, and did indeed beat Muhammad Ali's ass.
Couldn't get the link but I'm sure it was a dandy! Never understood why Ali took on Frazier less than 3 months after "Ringo"? An early summer 71 would have been more ideal one would think. Joe did indeed let it all hang out that night. The 11th round was more impressive than the 15th for Joe...and I remember the quote. Ali: "don't you know I'm God! Joe: "well God's gonna get his a s s kicked tonite!"
Thanks to all of you. I love doing these and I'd be getting them out a lot faster but I had a 5 page paper due for history class. I got to write about my favorite crazy person in all of antiquity Diogenes the cynic. For those who don't know: http://www.uexpress.com/tell-me-a-story/2013/3/24/the-philosopher-and-the-king-a
