I wouldn't be surprised if you are also fat, have poor hygiene, your favorite food is pie and mash and your fantasy threesome is with the queen and maggie thatcher. How funny would that be. Was it you that also took issue with Tyson Fury's song choice for his last fight?

 

The Queen only lives at Buckingham Palace about 50 days of the year and apparently hates it there, could have that thing turned into a hotel/museum and charge an absolute bomb, if they're to benefit us by bringing in all these tourists then why aren't we maximising this revenue? If their only benefit is to promote tourism then why do we send Prince Philip around the world insulting people? Calling chinese people "slitty eyed" and asking aboriginies if they still "throw spears at each other" ?

Then we have Harry dressing up as a nazi, pretending to be some kind of war hero for a bit of foreign policy propaganda for Sun readers to lap up. Prince Andrew who takes helicopters to and from golf days at tax payers expense, then pops over to see his peadophile best friend in America at our expense for pool parties with hookers. Prince Charles who drove his ex wife to anorexia, cheated on her while she was pregnant with both his children then possibly had her knocked off when she got pregnant with a muslim's baby. Lets not even start on Sarah Ferguson and her "TV career" !

Do these people make you proud? Do you really in all honesty want these people to represent us on an international basis? Out of a misguided sense of tradition? Really?

I want to be proud and sing the national anthem but I can't be because I don't believe in having an un-elected monarchy. It's all the patriotic swear allegiance to your Queen **** that just doesn't sit well with me, as for the tuning of the anthem, I think it's fair to say that the Froch fans present won't be troubling the three tenors anytime soon!

Taxes? If it bothers you that much I'd have thought you'd at least have half a clue about what you're talking about. The revenue from the Crown Estate is escheated in the Exchequer; the whole purpose of the Civil List was that it was a substitute from the revenue normally generated from Crown possessions. You pay for nothing, though, the Royal Family probably help fund your tax credits.

Try and worry about something a lil more serious. If you liken the Monarchy to an 'injustice' then I'd be so bold as to say that your moral compass is a little skewed.

I could say the same I'm afraid as your information is inaccurate and out of date. The Civil List was abolished in 2011. 15% of the revenue of the Crown Estate goes directly to the monarchs, that's land that they don't own for which they receive an income and they've only been paying tax on that income for a decade. It's hardly any different from the old feudal system.

If you think it's morally right that we have a "royal family" that lives a lavish lifestyle whilst also having 4 million people living below the poverty line then I'd examine your own moral compass a little bit more closely before pointing the finger at mine.

In any case, it doesn't really bother me on a day to day basis, if I let my perceived injustices get to me regularly I'd be a very angry man, doesn't mean I can't have a discussion about them though.

 

Wow, you've piqued my interest so I just looked it up - looks like the Civil List is redundant from 2013 with a p/c of Crown Estate revenue being rebated to the Royal Family. Exactly the same principle as before.

Actually, they do own the land :roll: and they haven't actually been receiving an income from it because it was escheated, previously, to the Exchequer.
