I typically support any effort from a fighter to talk trash and create buzz and I think its especially good for the HW division which maybe has some chance of revitalization at the moment, but this guy is horrendous and I wish he'd stop. I was just listening to him at the press conference and you can tell he's trying to be loud and charismatic, that he made up his mind that that's who he's gonna be, but he just doesn't have the wits for it.

Even Fury is cringeworthy at times. When he's being himself, he is entertaining.
Just talking a lot isn't the same as being a good talker.

I can't stand the way he goes on, when he shouts "Bomb squad" etc it's pathetic really.

I've seen worse trash talkers but it does come off as he's trying really hard to be loud and entertaining. When he starts shouting and screaming and threatening it just doesn't seem genuine.

In fact when Stiverne, who is usually so quiet, started to trash talk it had more impact, you can tell he actually doesn't like Wilder much and wants to prove a point and hurt him. He isn't the kind of guy to usually talk trash so when he does you know there is some genuine dislike there.

As for Fury, he is no doubt funny, but I find him so cringe worthy, he often tries to trash talk but he often comes off ignorant and obnoxious instead, he just isn't likable to me.

Ali was the best trash talker ever, he not only belittled and demeaned his opponent but he was funny, eloquent as well, his rants were also often poetic.

I also liked Hamed, yes he was arrogant as hell but he came up with some cracking lines, same with Eubank though he was a bit of a mad hatter, the most bizarre and baffling things would come out of his mouth but he was always entertaining.

Like when he called Frasier a gorilla?

Ali was a disgrace when it came to pre fight build up talk

It's amazing ppl forgot his antics, even in the 60s what he said was out of order nvr mind how it should be perceived in the pc world we live in today

Everything about Wilder is forced. He screams "manufactured" from his title shot, to his undefeated record, to his persona. For the good of the sport he needs to lose later today.

Not quite sure what people want from champions these days. This isn't WWE.

Can people give examples of active fighters they consider good "talkers"?

The groves Rubik's cube stunt did make laugh though.

I don't understand why people hate on Wilder, I'm not sold on him as a fighter and I see flaws but I think he's entertaining and comes across as a pretty genuine guy in interviews.

wilder just needs to stop. Just stop already. Well... he is going to stop later on tonight. The guy is going to rush into a brain scrambling counter from Stiverne.

Agreed. Fury has natural charisma and can talk for days.
