I just know its going to be ruined for something stupid like a 2 second clip of Wahlberg's ass.

Remember seeing Wahlberg regularly on the ring apron watchin' Pac spar at Wild Card.

Used to work in the biz. Have heard it is the best sports film - not boxing, sports film - in a long, long time. That said, people I have spoken to were not boxing fans and so I don't know if things like Wahlberg looking like a gd light heavy would bother them as much as it bothers me. Have heard that O. Russell directs beautifully, that Bale is as wonderful as he has been at his peak (and is a lock for best supporting actor nomination), and that Amy Adams holds her own too. I forget the actress' name who plays Wahlberg's mom but I heard she steals the show.

I've heard "one of the best films of the year" thrown around by a couple of people, but from what I gather, while it is a wonderful piece of film, it is the performances that are brilliant. That said we boxing fans will probably be able to tell better than most if the performances are genuine or not. I'm sure to most, Wahlberg is playing generic hard luck boxer 3 whereas we've seen our share of Ward. Still, all indications point to it being great.

I've heard about this, but now I'm genuinely interested after this thread.

I'm looking forward to this movie with cautious optimism. Hopefully it turns out to be a great movie that generates some interest in the sport that we all love.

Looking forward to it. Wahlberg is a boxing fan so I would hope it is better than typical boxing ****. However, making a Ward film without the Gatti fight is just blasphemous.

Wahlberg redeemed himself with "the other guys" but I still don't like how his lines come out as forceful..

I read that it supposedly looks very good. Kinda stupid that it ends with the Neary fight and doesn't even have the most defining fights of Ward's career in it.

Looking forward for the movie. Kinda sad though the Gatti fight isn't in the movie.

this documentry from the 90's i think is about a bunch of cracks heads just trying to get by/clean, it turns out one of the people documented is Dickie Eklund (Wards brother). The Doc has nothing to do with boxing but lets you see the bull**** Ward put up with from his brother. i think its 6 parts and all are on youtube, this is part 1. Dickie doesn't come into the Doc till the end of the first video.

at one point Dickie looks at the camera and says "i fought Sugar Ray Leonard" and you're thinking to yourself yea ok crack head, then i looked on boxrec and he aint lying lol.
