Just re-watched the fight, had it pretty much even after 6rounds.after that Ricky looked spend and Floyd really started dominating Ricky.

I think Floyd going to the body in the clinches emptied Ricky gas tank, and also Cortez was not doing any favors to Ricky.Floyd elbows were blatantly illegal and Cortez many times break up the clinch too fast.

But in the end i don't think it would have made big difference to result.Floyd was on point that evening, and as usual adapted to Ricky smothering game perfectly, albeit little credit goes also to Floyd conditioning and masterful body punching.

Yawn Hatton's best weight was 140 wonder if Floyd had to hydrate for that cherry pick

lol Hatton got mugged by Mayweather. I was surprised by how quickly Hatton could close the distance on Mayweather. He was a lot quicker than I thought.

Hatton was excellent in the first 6 rounds. His footwork was giving Floyd some serious problems.

    The fight wasn't even close.

Even Hatton knew it wasn't close - it's why he stayed on the ground after being knocked down. He knew he couldn't get close to him. Think I can only really remember one round in which Hatton was truly effective - and that's coming from someone who had a house full of people cheering Hatton on in that fight, myself included.

That's really no different to most Mayweather fights - unless he knows an opponent's style inside-out from the start, he almost always allows his opponent to show him his best work early in the fight. After that, he adjusts, sets traps and kills them every time they attempt it. No clearer example of it than the knockdown which won the fight against Hatton.

Indeed was,but after that Ricky slowed down and it all went downhill from there.also Floyd is known for stepping up in latter half of the fight.it was probably combination of both

Cortez was afwul in that fight, many times Cortez jumped to "break" them up in middle of Exchange.Cortez made sure Ricky didn't have any chance.also Floyd was using the elbow all night, should be penalised from that.

Only reason i think Floyd would still have won even with different referee and no elbows,is because how great Floyd looked from round 7onwards.

I think it would have been lot closer tough.but still can't see Ricky winning it

And hats of to Floyd.it was masterpiece, one of the last fights were we see on point all evening

Hatton a cherrypick?this forum is sad place,Ricky is one of my favourites.he is not an ATG.but far from cherrypick.

Or do you mean by dragging Ricky to 147 it was cherrypick?then maybe i partly agree.

Ricky was not the same hitman anymore at Welterweight.

Dragging him up to 147... despite the fact that Ricky was an ex champion there at that time.... ROFL. What a joke
