I was looking to get some good sparring in and I was thinking of going to another gym or 2 to get a variety of people and different quality of opponents. Plus my club is kind of far away, these other ones wouldn't be much more a problem for me. My trainer has said I could go down there and I did once and I did well in sparring, I'm just a little nervous I spose. Any of you here do this?
we usually have fighters come to our gym or we go to there gym specifically for sparring. Our trainer also comes with us. I think its good of your trainer to allow you to use other gyms. Everybody gets nervous going to a new gym. Its normal mate. It will be good using other gyms you will learn alot more from it.
We usually have people come in from different gyms to spar. Just prepare for a fight rather than sparring xD. Everytime someone else comes in to spar they try to go balls out
yeah thats what i was going to say, ive been a few other gyms sparring to and its a good experience however ive heard some stories where other gyms go all out on people like that so just be carefully
That's very good indeed. We have "central training sessions" with four or five local gyms once every while.
We always go to multiple gyms you get more looks that way, However we work closely with a couple becuase there is a level of respect in which the fighters can develop sometimes you go to clubs where there is no learning curve to it and it ends up being a fight and not sparring, be sure to note the gyms where your getting the best work and stick with them.
yeah defo a good thing to do, i do it a lot and kind of fight out of 2 clubs i have my regular original club but my mate is the coach of another club and he has some good fighters there my weight, he also gets me fights and just have to get permission off my original club for me to fight under his clubs name which is always sweet, i know guys who travel around the clubs around the city, just turn up with headgear, mouthpiece and 16 oz and ask to spar, best way is to spar new people all the time, once you befriend someone sparring goes downhill from there
not if you can stay focused on what you need to be doing, I agree once you become friends its harder to get in the same quality work, However there is a point in which you will fight those friends so its best to learn how to deal with it and over come it now.
Back in the day when I was fighting, and doing more sparring, I used to get a call from the other local gym fairly regularly as I was the only southpaw in the area, so i'd go along to help anyone out who had an upcoming fight with a southpaw. I always enjoyed the variety of sparring with different people.
