I didn't know that professional promoters can announce alliances with amateur governing bodies, but it seems that GBP gets to circumvent the rules again. If anything, this might help USA Boxing short-term in that it might get some exposure with Oscar's media connections. But long term, this can only lead one way...to Golden Boy monopolizing American amateur prospects. This, of course, answers the questions regarding GBP's ability to find prospects since their famous faces were all retiring.
No real details of the deal have come out, but after last year's debacle with Michael King and A2P, we'll have to see. It could be a media and marketing thing, getting amateurs more exposure and helping USA Boxing with funding, etc.
