    Linares looked really good. In terms of technical skills both offensive and defensively, hand speed, punch variety and shot selection he's just a joy to watch and there are very few in the game who can match him in those departments or who even come close to doing so. I'm glad Melon Head Miguel aka Cripple Crusher Cotto was ringside to witness his cousin's destruction.

    Nothing to credit really lol. It's Abner Cotto :/ a shop worn one too. Seems like since he got stopped Fortuna he's been fighting nobodies and that's 2 years.

    Good performance. Until I saw Cotto's cousin's record. Been stopped in round 1 and 5. Not the toughest dude in boxing.

    ...and @ellerbe - I know what you're going to say. "If you can just have your takeaway here be Linares' form irrespective of the opponent, why couldn't you give Haney that same benefit of the doubt versus a diminished version of MiniBurgos last night?"

    The answer is because Linares is already proven at the highest level, many times over across the years (and he's still operating at the same level as of very recently) so taking a litmus test of his current form is relevant and worthwhile.

    Haney is yet to accomplish 1% as much as Linares, so his form against the sort of competition that is routinely fed to prospects isn't as much of a conversation piece. IMO. :thumbsup:

    He can be a conversation piece when he tests himself. Linares has walked through fire, and come across many hurdles in his career - sometimes clearing them and sometimes eating shit. But you have to meet those hurdles before you matter, or before how you're looking on a given night in a gimme matters.

    He threatens me. But in all seriousness, nah lol, that's irrelevant. I've been a Linares fan for a long time. I just don't think a fight against Abner Cotto proves anything besides what IB said. It just shows that Loma didn't completely take his balls.

    This doesn't make Loma's win over Linares better lol. If he beats Ramirez, Prograis, or Taylor **** yeah it does.

    Yeah, nobody's saying that, dude. Linares has a lot of fans on here outside the sphere of all the partisan agenda nonsense. Let people just be happy that a longtime warrior still has that spark and is looking sharp headlining a low-key 17k viewer card on FaceBook. Just let it be what it be.

    Burgos is a far better win than Cotto though. Let's be real. Just like Burgos, Cotto has been fighting absolute nobodies for years. Other thing is Cotto is chinny as hell, Burgos isn't. He has a win over a former world champ too, something Abner has never done.

    I get your point though. This fight shows Linares still has potential to be a world champ and isn't completely disheartened by the Loma loss.

    No, it doesn't make Loma's win any better, it shouldn't need to, because that was one of the best P4P wins in the last 2 years regardless.

    I have another angle to come at this from, Loma moved up to 135 to face the second best guy there, who in his comeback fight a few months later moved up to 140 effortlessly, because he probably should have been fighting there for quite some time anyway. Loma a FW, in actuality beat a very legit big ass Light Welterweight!:naughty2:

    Ellerbe is just disappointed that Linares didn't look horse**** tonight. Then it'd be like "Oh look one of Loma's best wins is overrated AF". It's no coincidence that a Loma detractor would be the only guy finding negativity here tonight. I don't even disagree that this win really means nothing but there's no reason to be critical after this performance.
