I don't think anybody was picking Zaveck. In fact, I was pretty much in the 1% that thought Thurman wouldn't knockout Zaveck. Everybody else was picking Thurman by stoppage early to the mid rounds.

 

A step down for Ortiz.

Ortiz should be shooting for Cotto, that would be a money fight with a casual appeal to it.

 

The last time he was in the ring a 140 guy broke his jaw and this is a step down? What's wrong with people do they think.

I'm getting the more hopeful I think about it, Thurman only got 150,000 for this Saturday, Canelo-Mayweather with Ortiz-Thurman would be worth 70 bucks and let's Mayweather get biggest payday in boxing history.

I agree. Its not a bad idea to put stars vs stars to build an even bigger star.... but the timing wouldn't be right at the momment. Thurman is too green for ortiz and niether ortiz or thurman is a big enough name at the momment to really add value to the guy who wins. So really its like a lose lose. I'd say they should wait two fights each. Then have at'er.
