    I don't see the problem here? If they are both GBP fighters then why would anyone in their right minds expect Delahoya etc to put them up against each other when both are relatively unknown quantities in the US to your casual boxing fans? GBP can't make big money out of it and the fighters cant make big money out of it. So why not give it a year until both these high potential fighters become known quantities in the US and then pit them against each other in a mega fight?

    How do we know if this is even true? And if even if it is, it makes sense that they would want a build up with the casual fans. Besides Marquez is far from a 'safe' opponent. Khan vs Maidana is worth a lot more down the road than it is now.

    But it's the governing body that decides on the mandatories? Whether there's a contract in place saying who Maidana should or shouldnt fight is of no interest to the governing body.

    Lets face it, all they're doing here is building up an opponent. Nothing new. Nothing controversial. Khan would school him anyway. Maidana is just a limited boxer with a dig.

    and if they fight their corrupt mandos they are a fraud too....marquez is the biggest name and a very formidable challenge...don't see a problem with that

    This rumor is definately true. This is from Rafael's notebook;

    Maidana agreeing to fight Cayo is part of a plan in which he's agreed to delay his mandatory fight with full titleholder Amir Khan, Schaefer said. "Everything is worked out," he said. "Maidana is going to continue to be the interim champion and we're going to promote three fights for Maidana, including March 27, and it will lead to a fight with Khan. We'll build Maidana here in the U.S. and give him great fights, and the same with Amir. If they keep winning, then you'll have the big fight sometime next year."

    He's not better than Marquez though, not anywhere near and without looking back through the thread I don't remember anyone saying he was.

    People think he would be a tougher opponent as he's got a lot of power in his punches and the last big puncher Khan faces KO'd him in under a minute.
