Russel is from my hood in capital heights, is brother is a beast too. Russell is the future in the lightweight division, and yes I know he doesn't fight lightweight right now.

Once a busy bee, Noe Lopez Jr. took eight months off before upsetting Adolfo Landeros back in August. He's back in action next against Ghanaian KO artist Yakubu Amidu.

Lopez is a little better than his record; he's been thrown to the lions early.

    Round 1

Amidu (who Doug Fischer claims to have seen tear up the Wild Card Gym in sparring, giving hell to guys like Frankie Gomez) moves nicely in all respects: coming forward, circling laterally, and thrusting in and out with equal fluidity and calmness. His jabs are the most frequently landed punch for either fighter. Lopez keeps trying to draw him into an exchange with a lefty 1-2 but is mostly walked through and swatted away. Amidu jabs his way in and moves his head to avoid the side-door punches of Lopez.

    10-9 Amidu

That was actually a really really solid round, most competitive of the evening so far. Amidu doing a great job of controlling the pace, and i'm seeing some competent upstairs/downstairs work here. Cool ****.

glad you posted this, man, tonight was boring as ****. Ive seen Noe Lopez lose before, only in losses, but he brings it, should be interesting. and Gary Jr. will probably cruise to a win but I remember Guadelupe upsetting a few boxers before...

    Round 2

Amidu keeps up the intelligent pressure, shooting a quick jab through the arms of Lopez and dipping down to knock on the doggy door now and then. Amidu turns a few of the jabs over into half-hooks. Lopez has his arms turned out trying to catch a lot of these shots while backing up and ducking often. Every time Lopez thinks about bringing a right hook around Amidu charges in and hammers him with short straight punches.

    20-18 Amidu

    Round 3

Amidu is ducking down into a jab and keeping his long body stretched away...not that Lopez is really aggressive with attempts to counter-punch. Amidu is working almost exclusively with the jab and suddenly Lopez explodes with sustained combination punching trying to push Amidu to the ropes. Amidu defends well but doesn't counter much outside of some hacking jabs and soft right uppercuts with his feet moving. Lopez just works, works, and works.

    29-28 Amidu

    Round 4

Amidu advances but remains in a turtle shell. Lopez spears him to the body with both fists. Amidu unloads a few inside hooks to the temple but isn't laying much power on Lopez and is also getting outworked. Lopez doubles his right jab and ducks a few powerful counters from Amidu. Lopez continues to retreat as Amidu begins to pick up the pace and go to the body with hooks. Lopez is in the corner and getting whacked with repetitive straight punches periodically broken up by a hook around his gloves. Lopez begins to trade at the end of the round and is taking the worse of it.

    39-37 Amidu

Nice Amidu strated to go for the KO in the 4th round good flurry at the end by the other dude but he's getting tired and pressed against the ropes to easily now.

    Round 5

Amidu threatens with his jab and drives his right hand into the gut of Lopez, keeping his torso stretched backward and his neck extended to keep his head out of Lopez's range but still getting good torque on his body punches and keeping his jab pretty straight. Lopez is again trapped in a corner and gets pecked at from all angles economically. Lopez dances around and looks for some space to throw a bomb or two. Amidu crowds him and slaps him against the ropes. Lopez keeps reaching up with his right jab trying for the difficult target of Amidu's head. The attempted left cross misses even worse.

    49-46 Amidu

    Round 6

Amidu throws 3 and 4 punches at a time, keeping them straight and accurate and relying on his natural strength more than spending energy generating power from his legs. Lopez is trying to get away but can't move laterally quickly enough to blindside Amidu, and every time he tries to shoot in to get his own punches off he is picked off and backed up again. Lopez inevitably goes back into a defensive posture and starts trying to catch shots on his gloves. He again trades at the ten-second warning but it's another clear round to punctuate a clear Amidu win.
