Round 1

Vargas circles unhurriedly. Favela comes forward with his gloves pinned to his face and flicks out jabs. Vargas throws a few body shots, tucking his head down and leaning into Favela. Vargas is grabbed around the back as he ducks down and bashes Favela with hooks and curving rights to the body. Favela blocks all of Vargas' straighter punches up high as they get back into a circling rhythm, and then flurries low. Vargas sticks a jab in Favela's face and backs him to the ropes. Favela arcs some high shots as he tries to press Vargas back.

Round 2

Vargas comes forward setting up combos with his jab, and working in some nice uppercuts. Favela is game and trying to block as much as he can but isn't getting any shots through on the younger, slicker, lither Vargas. Favela tries to spread his guard into an around-the-back grab, trying to pull Vargas into a bearhug and work the body. Vargas isn't allowing it, just muscling out and getting back behind his jab. Favela chases him to the ropes flipping his fists down toward Vargas' flanks but unable to pin him against the ropes.

Round 3

The two lean shoulders and whack away to the body. Vargas strays low and Favela is given a quick moment to recover, shaking his head at Vargas (even though he's been straying a bit low himself). Vargas is moving backward and fluidly landing jabs as Favela remains on a tractor beam. Nice jab uppercut combo by Vargas. He tries it again but Favela has it scouted and times it with a right hand straight through, landing on Vargas' forehead. Favela follows, flicking out jabs into Vargas' guard and working in some body shots when he gets close. Vargas doesn't do much in the last minute except get hooked to the body and back up.

That could be Favela's round.

 

Round 4

Vargas pumps a 1-2 while staying just inside range. Favela feints and gets Vargas to react with some shoulder rolling. Favela is just watching his reactions like a hawk and continuing to come forward. Favela leans against him and they trade low flurries until clinching. Favela suddenly lands a short 1-2 up high. Vargas backs up and keeps trying to land hooks and uppercuts to back Favela off. Favela is landing well now, covering up and bursting out with right hands in between Vargas' combos. Hard whips to the body by Favela as Vargas is forced to remain behind his high guard by Favela's constant pressing in on him.

Round 5

Vargas lands to the body, two and three at a time before backing away. Favela just shrugs them off and keeps walking him down and throwing his own short pecks high and low. Vargas is backed to the ropes and takes a right hand but lands a counter left hook. Favela keeps pressing him across the ring and lands another lead right hand. Now Vargas is put into a corner before ducking and shooting out. Favela drops his head down to waist level and fires to the body with both hands. Vargas lands a nice punch to the head and Favela just grins. Favela comes forward landing jabs through the guard and hooks to the body.

Wow..Favela winning on my card.

 

Round 6

Favela falls in with a body hook, with all four gloves and both heads pressed together. They stay glued together like this, with both trying to flurry backward before the magnetic pull draws them back in. Vargas starts backing up and just blocking punches. Favela takes some big-boy steps and gets glove-glued to him again, and throws lots of short inside punches that don't necessarily damage Vargas but do score well. Vargas throws a combo to stake his ground and then starts backing up with a jab flowing. Favela is reaching down and whacking the body well coming forward, propelling himself toward Vargas quickly enough to land consistently on the tall prospect despite his shorter reach.

Round 7

Favela pressures intelligently, throwing whenever and wherever Vargas shows an opening backing up. Hard left hook to the ear by Favela. Vargas leans against him with gloves around his face and fires out blind to the body. Favela pulls his head back to line up a look and fires a hard right hand down the middle, further bloodying the already smashed nose of Vargas. Favela lands a nice body shot. Vargas is backed up to the ropes and then surges forward with a very hard left hook to the head but Favela walks right through it. Favela curls around an uppercut near the kidney and then keeps trading through the bell with Vargas, finishing off with a chopping right hand as Vargas desperately and angrily swipes at him.

 

Round 8

Vargas lands a jab and dances away. Favela follows and blocks with his forearms while poking through at the exposed areas as Vargas tries to get some distance. They battle in the corner with Favela stumbling a bit as he leans into Vargas and causing the crowd to get amped up but a sudden outburst of aggression by Vargas has no effect. Favela lands a nice right hand and keeps pressuring Vargas and seems to have him a bit stunned. Favela keeps hitting him flush in the head and Vargas fights him off as well he can, looking exhausted as he is backed to the ropes.
