Maldonado vs. Cordero up first.

Round 1

Maldonado backs Cordero up to the ropes with an ambidextrous barrage of right/left hooks and right/left uppercuts. Cordero blocks as much as he can but finally succumbs to a knee. Cordero very slowly rises and gives a slight shake of his head when asked if he wants to continue.

Ramon Valadez up next, nice. He's always exciting.

 

Ramon Valadez vs. Rafael Lora

Round 1

Hard hooks by Valadez, taken on the back of the glove by Lora. Valadez lunges in after Lora has finished throwing a chopping 1-2 from the outside, and misses with a probing jab but then lands a pair of hard hooks to the body. Lora circles on the outside and tries to line Valadez up with a chopping right. Valadez takes a few slices and Lora uses some good movement in a wide sprawling stance, bending his knees and ducking down to avoid most of Valadez's blows. Lora has his arms tucked up tight, elbows out. Awkward-looking but he's defending well.

 

Round 2

Lora is hooking his way in, out of his tight crab-stance. Valadez is timing him and knocking his curly haired dome back with his own hooks and powerful rights. Lora starts to jab long and low from outside, parried by Valadez's right glove. Lora comes chopping in and Valadez flurries while stepping aside. Lora gets inside and whips out some body shots, with Valadez still looking to time him.

 

Round 3

Lora is crab-jabbing with his left while crouching and swooping in, long-legged. Valadez is missing his jabs as Lora watches and slips it on his way in, but the right hand is landing when Lora pulls out. Valadez takes a quick sidestep and catches Lora with a hard left hook to the chest as the Dominican man telegraphs a strafing step to the right. Valadez keeps stalking and baiting Lora into exchanges, where he's getting the better and landing his left hook to the beard.
