We're live. Doug Fischer is right, IMO - Ramon Valadez has really improved in the fourteen months since his sophomore loss to Oscar Andrade, and has indeed "transformed from club fighter to prospect".

Noe Lopez should test him...forget about the losing record.

 

First up, 4 rounds @ super featherweight between Jose Sanchez and Rodrigo Garcia.

 

Round 1

Garcia leans his left forearm against Sanchez's head and loops some rights at him. Sanchez wings in his own wide head shots and drops a few to the pecs. Nice thudding connections from Sanchez on the chest, knocking some wind out of Garcia. Meanwhile Garcia is throwing straighter shots and clipping Sanchez regularly with the knuckles of his right. Nice right to the body by Garcia. Sanchez shoeshines low and then clinches, walking Garcia back. Lunging combo by Garcia, leaning against Sanchez to press him into the ropes. Triple fishing-line overhand left cast out over the top by Sanchez, landing as Garcia just ambles back unsure how to defend.

10-9 Garcia for harder and cleaner shots, but very close round.

Round 2

Both bring aggression to center ring. Sanchez lands a huge left, rocking Garcia back. A follow up left drops him hard. Garcia gathers himself and gets back in the fray. Garcia tries frantically to get inside and is tagged a few more times on the way in. Sanchez hits him with a pair of uppercuts stumbling forward trying to hold and Garcia totters back awkwardly.

The referee waves it off, without a count.

 

It always makes me sad to see a debutant lose. :conf

It's like you just want to give them a big squishy hug and say "Hang in there, buddy! Get back in the gym and just keep at it!"
