Freddie Roach is unveiling his new wunderkind, Zachary Wolman.

The kid's pro debut is four years in the making since he started working at Wild Card.

He's hitting the ground running, as Ricardo Malfavon is maybe the toughest 1-6-1 fighter you could find (and I think just about all his fights have been on this Club Nokia series).

 

Round 1

Wohlman shows off a nice strong jab, circling wide to his left on the outside. Malfavon swipes at him with long hooks while coming forward, just following Wohlman but not really cutting the ring off. They lean together and Malfavon uses a bit of forearm to the throat to get separation. Whipping right to the body by Malfavon and another one to the face as Wohlman leans away while up on his toes. Wohlman is jabbing and circling, looking calm. Wohlman hooks off his toe-tips. Malfavon is stuffing high jabs and trying to unload on Wohlman but not getting by the jab.

The card as listed on Boxrec doesn't have any undercard bouts left to show after this one in progress, except one that's already over from before the show started (a 4-rounder; they may show it on tape delay if there's lots of extra time. The broadcast runs until 1am EST)

 

Round 2

Wohlman is working jabs and left hooks while circling and letting Malfavon come to him. Uppercut and hook combo by Wohlman while moving. Malfavon keeps coming and bashing away with overhands. Good hard shots connecting for Malfavon, just raining down with wide overhands and clipping Wohlman on the back and sides. Wohlman wriggles his way through and gets back into his circling range while popping counters.

Round 3

Malfavon is still hammering away with wild overhand shots but getting countered and stunned in place by jabs and hooks. Tie-up. Wohlman tries to wrestle Malfavon off but needs some help from the ref. Long right hand connects for Malfavon. Wohlman jabs and glides left. Jab, step, jab, step, hook. Clinch. Malfavon throws a wild hook from the hip and then hammers down with a wild right, both missing and Wohlman pops him with a counter after each and sends Malfavon spun around off balance. Clapping shots inside by Malfavon, just webbed on Wohlman's guard. Slick moves out of the pocket by Wohlman.

Round 4

BIG COUNTER LEFT HOOK KNOCKDOWN! Malfavon is sent flying and lands on the seat of his pants. Wohlman timed him beautifully there. Now Wohlman runs around him and pecks away with jabs to the body and head. Right hand by Wohlman. Left hook. Right hand, duck and swoop off to the right. Malfavon is undeterred by the knockdown, still trying to be the aggressor. Malfavon just runs in with his arms glues to his head and then lets rip with some big hooks and looping rights once up close. Wohlman is jumping back to block and jab. Wohlman looks a little tired, but is still out-moving Malfavon. Nice counter jabs by Wohlman, who's coasting in the last thirty seconds. Some distance bought with a big hook by Wohlman. Clinch. Malfavon opens up in the last five seconds, throwing hard punches but not getting a piece.
