    MAIN EVENT

    Round 1

Ronny Rios throws a cautious 1-2 and gets right behind his guard as Leivi Brea circles right and throws jabs out of the lefty stance. They trade lead rear hands (Rios with his right and Brea with his left) but neither is closing the gap to ensure that they land. They both jab at the same time and have a bit of a lightsaber clash. This first round is being fought on very even terms, in both output and accuracy, with neither man totally able to command ring generalship. Rios blocks a lead left and steps into a backward 1-2 (right then jab).

Slightest of edges to Rios, 10-9. Damn near an even round (which you almost never see me give out).

    Round 2

Rios lands a VERY nice counter hook during an exchange. Brea throws fatter shots but is keeping busier, tapping the gloves and forearms of Rios with left uppercuts and right jabs, looking very rangy. Rios refuses to get drawn into a brawl, and patiently waits to stick his jab on Brea when he ceases his flurries at the risk of getting outworked. Rios throws a 1-2 to the body and strays a bit low. Brea goes to his knees and is visibly bothered. Brea is really bothered and sags to his knees again in the corner during his allotted recovery time. Rios has a point deducted. This ref doesn't **** around! No warnings. (It's the same guy from the last fight). Brea comes out slugging and surprises Rios with his aggression. The Brea jab keeps Rios honest and the left hand comes behind it to score.

    10-8 Brea

    19-18 Brea

    Round 3

Rios is looking sharp with his 1-2 but is simply not throwing enough. Brea circles right and rains down on Rios with his southpaw 1-2, then falls in to smother Rios in a clinch or takes a quick lateral hop before Rios can get anything going. Rios jabs and has his left hand grabbed and held. Brea times Rios coming forward with his 1-2 using the left uppercut. A couple of very even exchanges are initiated by Rios but with Brea landing slightly better. Rios throws another very low right cross that would have been a foul had it landed.

    10-9 Brea

    29-27 Brea

    Round 4

Brea continues to box and move, putting the right jab in Rios' face and slipping punches. Rios tries to plant a hook on him but is frustrated by the herky jerky motion of Brea. Rios jabs and is countered with a lead left. Brea throws a southpaw 1-2 and immediately grabs before Rios can counter. Rios scores a quick knockdown. Brea is up and trash talking right away, shaking his head. Rios again puts him down. Brea claims it's a low blow but is given a 10 count. He stays down and is counted out. WEIRD!

The replay shows it was a right hand to the side of the body. It was nowhere near the groin.

A legitimate KO for Rios (he forced Brea to quit on his knees with his body punching in this round).

Nice win, Rios pounded that body. Brea was acting like a real diva out there totally Betty White.

Yup. He basically went down voluntarily, well after taking a punch.

    I like these Rios brothers.

Does anybody else think that Salvador might actually have even more upside? Granted, Ronny had the trickier opponent.

    FOTN: easily Orozco vs. Tapia.

If you missed this episode of Fight Night Club but somehow wound up reading this RBR - look for this one on Youtube or check the Golden Boy ustream archive in a couple of days. It's probably one of the best six rounders of the year.

Well there was a bonus non-televised swing bout for those watching on one of the legal streams, but it didn't last long.

Armando Dorantes from East LA just beat the living crap out of Sergio Joel De la Torre.

The bell rang, and Dorantes just started bombing the much shorter man (it could be as much as five inches between them) until he went down. Then he pounced on him and did it again. It was a mugging, and looked more like a one-sided street fight than a boxing match. :yep

De la Torre falls to 11-15-3, while Dorantes improves to 8-2 with only the second KO win of his career.

Tonight unbeaten 140lb prospect Jesse Vargas takes on wizened Argentine spoiler Pablo Daniel Sarmiento.

The usual start time for Fight Night Club is 11pm EST (or 8pm local time, catering to the crowds at Club Nokia in California rather than the east coast TV audience who have to stay up later than we're used to for American boxing :D).

If you tune in to the channel now, there are some amateur bouts being shown to warm up the audience before the professional action of the Fox Sports Net broadcast.

    Jamie Kavanagh vs. Ricardo Malfavon

    Round 1

Kavanagh circles and pops his jab repeatedly, bringing around some shovels to the body with both hands when Malfavon clenches his forearms together up high. Malfavon tries to time Kavanagh coming in with an odd 1-2 but isn't able to touch him cleanly nor escape the majority of the jabs or body blows.

    Kavanagh 10-9
