Rios throws a long jab that the taller man is able to sway out of the path of, but Rios is following the lead with his feet and keeping on top of Robinson, roughing him up with short pats on the inside as Robinson tries to clinch his arms down. A couple of swings make contact for Robinson (as well as some elbows) but Rios largely gets the better when they're in the pocket, which is most of the round.

Round 4

Robinson throws some long darts at Rios to keep him from charging in, but Rios is only momentarily dissuaded and winds up right in Robinson's chest. Robinson is leaning into Rios and trying to wrap Rios up in a hug with his head tucked down. This leaves him a bit off balance and with a clear bullseye on his chin when they push off to separate. Rios doesn't have the reach or speed to capitalize. Rios took a low blow but only uses about ten seconds to recover. Robinson uses his right jab and some quick shuffling to survive the last minute but Rios hunts him down with right hands that force more grappling. Robinson then begins to flail with Rios a bit after the ten-second clap.

:nod I could see anywhere from a shutout for Rios to a draw (depending on how one saw the patchy 1st and 4th) but the middle rounds were pretty clearly his, IMO.

Round 1

Sarmiento swivels and throws his left shoulder into Vargas to slow his hands down, in between throwing quick crouching jabs. Vargas then cuts off the ring and clobbers him with a hook that sets up a lengthy combo (punctuated by another hook to the jaw) and Sarmiento is down and out in a corner.

 

That was very precise work by Jessie Vargas.

Sarmiento was shimmying well enough and wasn't exactly leaden in his foot or upper body movement. That was just good timing + lots of power.

 

That's exactly who he was emulating. :good He ain't no SGM (even though they're only a few years apart in age).

This was Sarmiento's first time in the ring in six and a half years! :scaredas:
