Golden Boy may sever ties with Sky

For someone like me who watches plenty EPL, CL, La Liga, Rugby League, cricket, and boxing £20 a month is great value.

 

I know, I'm just saying that you got a lot for £12.

I think £20 a month is brilliant, it's only 60 odd p a day..... I wouldn't pay the same (or potentially more) just for GBP boxing.

Over the course of a year that's £240, or 16 £15 PPV's. I don't think I've ever bought more than four in a year.

They've got misguided ideas as to how many buys they'll generate for their product. If they think they can do better than what they are getting for what is essentially a limited overseas market then all power to them.

But I'm sceptical.

 

not 100% sure on this but I think the golden boy deal with haye is only for fights which are in the u.s.a so whatever happens shouldn't change his situation. but remember last time he was suppose to fight a klitschko setanta was about to go bust and people believe the fight never went ahead because he wouldn't be getting any t.v money not that he had a back injury, maybe its all about to happen again. :think

 

competition is only good if the networks are the one setting up the fights like hbo and showtime, but when it comes to only broadcasting the fights to us then i think paying for one channel is better than paying for 2

 

i remember schaeffer being in attendance for haye-valuev and another fight....:huh

 

The only hope for competition is if ESPN get involved. ESPN are the only network out there with deep enough pockets to actually be able to offer promoters more money than Sky would and be able to and afford running at a loss. ESPN have the funds to actually promote and market themselves as well something setanta struggled to do.

However ESPN are not really bothered about boxing. I mean there are enough fights from America which Sky didnt get which ESPN could of got but boxing is something they clearly have no interest in.

 

nobody likes floyd mayweather but he holds the ppv record, it doesn't matter if they like khan or not, they'll just pay to see him lose instead of winning. khan would obviously make more money if he was with sky, but his big money will come from america rather than the u.k.
