Sorry mate, but either I'm not picking up on it or you haven't explained it. Anyway, this **** is all in the past. I disagree with you personally, but that's what I know and think. No one can be perfect. I'm hardly going to jump on his Management for not picking up a phone call, am I
Woah, SKY turned down the opportunity to show the Khan Judah fight on one SS1, SS2 or SS3 for a nominal fee?? Now who's being petty.....
This is spot on. I buy every PPV because i love the sport. Id be more than happy to boycott this event in the wake of recent comments
The thing is Khan may not be a big star in the making after this year? Who knows..i wish him the best but i can't see him doing it all. Remember when Golden Boy were pushing Billy Dibb as the next naseem and that **** flopped hard.
This is laughable. So what exactly are GBP going to do? What other network in the UK will pay or the rights to a Mayweather fight, an Ortiz fight or any other fighter on Golden Boy. There is nowhere else to go in the UK unless u want to be on some small minority chanel which nobody watches like Primetime. I really cant imagine Adam Smith and Barney holding urgent meetings worried that Golden Boy will go elsewhere. Its just not going to happen as there is nowhere else to go. What Golden Boy should be doing is speaking with Sky and TK trying to sort the 'Beef' out. The problem with Golden Boy is they have no knowledge of how it works in the UK TV market. I honestly dont think they realise just how small primetime is in comparison to Sky. Could you imagine the return of PBF v Ortiz being stuck on Primetime. It would be a joke!!! When Khan mentions his previous PPV fights wasnt this because he demanded so much money that Frank had no choice but to go on PPV? The only reason I can see why Sky turned down the Judah fight on Sky sports was down to the fee Team Khan wanted. Either that or Sky are that angry over the McCoskey fiasco that they are ready for Khan to sweat it out. You have to remember Sky dont need Khan right now. They got Haye who will make them a packet and Froch v Ward with the right promotion can do very well. Team Khan have to remember that it only takes 1 defeat and suddenly HBO may not be so keen.
out come khans accountants again, ffs who gives a **** about sky, they are not committed to non UK boxing the way they used to, there are far better places to invest your cash than that pussyhole adam smith
Sky get relatively few viewers for boxing. if anything they're doing the sport a favour. and a lot of that is due to fw and the hearns. what's khan done for them? the little they lose on khan they make up by getting more for their money. that's all there is to it.
A lot of people here are letting their hatred of Khan get in the way of logic. Is it better to let Sky get their broadcasting monopoly on the sport back? Sky were the guys who are partly to blame for the demise of boxing in the UK by making it less accessible to the public. Sky may be singing a different tune now but they were happy to put Khan fights against the likes of Prescott and Gomez on PPV. The DeGale Grooves fight was PPV for christs sake, how many buys do you think they got? That was a fight that was begging for terrestrial coverage. After the Setanta debacle its a miracle that a dedicated sports channel can survive on its own. We should be throwing everything behind Primetime. I prefer their commentary to Skys as well as their studio talk. I just hope they can tidy up their act a little and set up a HD feed soon as well.
Why should we, Primetime have no interest in Boxing, they shown interest for a few months at the start, now apart from 1 Khan fight not had a single other thing from them. Primetime after a quick payday, not bringing us Boxing on a monthly basis.
What competition you stupid imbecile, there is NO competition. You think if SKY drop Boxing the BBC or ITV will bring you live UK boxing every weekend. Some of you people are beyond dumb, stop looking to hate on something that doesn't exist.
Those Khan/Wa77en fights on Sky Box Office were down to a number of contributing factors that conveniently happened all around the same time. Because remember, Wa77en (or Sports Network) had a deal with Setanta at that time, and Setanta believed they were getting Khan as well when the ITV contract ran out. But Fwanky got majorly pissed with them when they did the deal with Hayemaker, who were putting on fairly regular shows at that time and he wanted off their channel. Then of course there were the shenanigans with him not paying Calzaghe what he should have done from the Hopkins fight (and that's not an allegation, SN were proven in court to owe him), and the smart, or prickish thing to do was dissolve Sports Network, and sign everyone up to the new Frank Wa77en Promotions. So no money owed to Calzaghe and no deal with Setanta. Then, at the time there were rumours of Top Rank and Golden Boy being interested in Khan, so he had to fork a shitload of cash up to keep him with FWP. The only way he could raise this kind of money was to do the deal with Sky, with Khan fighting on PPV. Supposedly at the time Khan wasn't happy and wanted to stay on ITV, but he didn't have a choice according to someone from ITV. This point was sort of backed up by the fact last year's Malignaggi fight was on ITV, who paid nothing for it, in order to boost back the hit his profile had taken while fighting on Box Office. However, recent events such as turning down SS3 to fight McCloskey and Judah on Primetime don't seem to back that up. Unless you go on the theory that if Khan wanted to fight for hardly any UK TV money he'd have done it on ITV again, but not Sky Sports. I await this post to be deleted now with all the FW mentions.atsch
Is it Khans or Sky's fault ( I DONT CARE ) All I know is Sky better sort it cause I have been seriously thinking about getting rid of my Sky Sports which means Sky Movies aswell ! I have always had the full Sky Package ( except ESPN and the Porn :hey ) It is costing me over £100 a month ! But the NFL coverage has gone downhill ( There are no red button games and Monday Night football has gone to ESPN ) Super 15 coverage is not what it used to be ( Apart from this weekend they have got alot of games on Sky for once ) The only thing keeping me to Sky is the Boxing Coverage ( I know all the "Big" fights involving british fighters are PPV but if golden boy pull out of Sky then we would lose some of the fights in America that Sky show every once in a while like Rhodes fight this weekend for example )
