This was sad to watch
Seems like the awful videos of Liddell training were actually representative of what he has left.
That was terrible to watch.
It's really shocking how much Chuck's athleticism diminished since his retirement. Even in his last fight again Franklin he was still fairly explosive and moved well. Chuck is 48 but he moved and punched like he was 68.
Taking in to account Liddells age and how long hes been out, I was still shocked when he started out for the first round moving like a 70 yr old..Jesus ive never seen anything like it, he looked terrible. Worse comeback in combat sports ive ever seen off the top of my head ever !
This. Moved way older than a man in his 40's let alone a retired athlete !
I think Tito done what anyone could do to Chuck, just tap the chin at this stage. He aint taking long beatings, short and swift regardless of who it is !
Chuck looked awful.
I mean from 07 to 10 he never actually looked that bad. He had just slowed a step due to age and poor training and his fighting style meant he got tagged, but he always looked dangerous, he was just always a punch away from being sparked. In fact with his chin it's a wonder he survived the brawl with Wandy tbh and the brawl with Jardine.
But the man we saw last night was pure awful. He had nothing about him, no speed, no snap, no movement, no reflexes, no defence, nothing.
People went ape**** about Michael B Johnson "calling out" Jones Jr, but honestly would anyone bet big money on Lidell beating Johnson if that fight somehow got made? I sure wouldn't.
He was taking it to Franklin. He winning that round clearly and even broke Franklins arm with a kick but got reckless and payed for it. He was on more or less even terms early on with Evans. I agree. Liddell had faded but was still capable fighter - he didn't make the necessary adjustments though which he needed to due to his age and declined chin. I wouldn't bet big money on this version of Liddell against anyone, he looked that bad.
Same with the second Rampage loss. All 3 fights were decided by a punch. Savage and brutal but as an offensive force he was still more than capable, he just wasn't quick enough to leave his chin hanging and counter any more.
The Jardine fight was the worst he looked imo, but Jaridne fought a perfect fight against a man living the lifestyle of Chuck and he nailed his body over and over again.
But God yeah last night seeing him hobble from side to side and throw a punch slower than anything that will ever be thrown in an MMA main event, especially for a man who was so speed driven in his prime.
Chuck was an ATG, but he was never a rounded MMA fighter, he was basically a better version of Derrick Lewis, he stuck to his style and never wavered. Even guys like Wandy, Rua and Silva pursued black belts in their ground game. But even as far as brawling goes Chuck didn't even become more measured the way Hunt did.
When he released those videos of him on the pads everyone thought it was sandbagging because no one can be that poor on the build up to a main event, but it's apparent that must have been the actual beat available footage.
Sad to see a fellow Chuck get destroyed.
Chuck you'd still move around better on your worst day. That was a sad showing.
Chuck looked like this guy on Saturday.
Well, that was embarassing.. chuck had no business near the cage
Chin was gone many years ago
Dana did give him a job but when the new owners took over all the jobs for the boys were scrapped, that's why he left his non fighting role with the UFC.
Dana could definitely hook him up with something regardless. He's got a ton of pull.
