    ---

Golden Boy bought The Ring Magazine in September. They also have a lot of influence in HBO. They are forming an empire.

What do you think about it?

No doubt they are materializing a lot of big fights.

I'm not too fond of the Golden Snaggle Tooth Mafia, but they've put together some big fights the public wants, so let's give them credit for that.

Which is all that matters unless corruption is proven.

So when have Richard and Oscar only paid a guy $90,000 for a supposed million dollar purse for a prize fight?

One thing is certain, De la Hoya will be a major figure in boxing for the next 40 years. Not as a fighter, as a businessman.

Don King will probably die in before 2012.

I seriously doubt if that HBO - Ring Mag - GBP triumvirate is not calling all the shots in prime time boxing today. DKP is as good as dead and decayin and Mayweather along with Big L are rowing against the tide but I question for how long after they have no major assets other than themselves... Let's consider that ODLH, SSM, B-Hop and MAB have given their faces once but now it's all about Richard Schaefer and economical dominance of all the markets related with boxing, same thing as with Don and Spike TV some time ago, the seed is giving rise to the tree and there's no reverse speed on this logic. The media is the first step to put pressure on the commissions and since the Group promotes the fighters, the Broadcasting company pays the fighters and that Press release rates and gives credit to the fighters, therefore the Group is one step short of controlling the commissions...

I like De La Hoya the fighter, but I cannot deny that this stinks to high heaven. The Ring championship belt will now become an increasingly meaningless accolade. It's a shame.

Hoya hater's can keep talkin' but you cant deny his stature in the Boxing World as a promoter. He has just as much power as Arum and King in very short time. The future looks bright.

GBP has been good for Boxing.

so far GPB have been great for boxing, maximizing their revenues by increasing the pot instead of decreasing the fighter's share.
