Golden Boy want to set up Calzaghe vs Hopkins, Khan vs Katsidis/Prescott July 31st

Calzaghe won't fight in July. He'll have a bit of weight to shift and would probably want a tune-up first. It seems too early for Bhop as well, he likes to take a year off after fights.

 

Can't see it to be honest. Marquez v Diaz is also on that day-I presume Golden Boy would have at least part promotion of that fight?

They could be looking at something like this as a tape-delay PPV undercard for that fight.

I saw pictures of Calzaghe in the press at the weekend. He's in shape.

None of those fighters will be in a meaningful fight in July.

 

Kahn might, someone mentioned in another thread that Ramadan starts in August so it would make sense for Khan to try and get a fight in before then as he'll struggle to train for the following month and that would mean his next fight being October/ November.

I'm not 100% sure on how the whole fasting thing works though or whether Khan observes Ramadan.

 

Had a dream that Calzaghe fought Hopkins in a rematch last night funnily enough.... Joe was complaining that the ref should have stopped the contest in the 10th for some reason? it was another SD with Calzaghe winning.

Even in my dreams them fighting again is boring!

 

In little over 10 weeks? I just don't see it.

If he does it'll be a straightforward defence/keep busy.

That's why I said 'meaningful' fight.

 

I don't think he would need a huge amount of prep at the moment. Hopkins has no gas tank left by this point so expect him basically trying to kiss and cuddle after the first two rounds.

 

No point in Calzaghe coming back to fight Hopkins unless he has someone in mind after that.

The first fight was disgusting to watch.
