Good for him. He did a good job. But this isn't the same as the annual Golden Gloves tournament held in the USA.

No, it wasn't. Trust me. The Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions is only open to US citizens because it's an advancing/ranking tournament and the winners of it automatically got a berth in the US Olympic Trials, basically. This event was run by the same group (Golden Gloves of America) but was a seperate event that was an international meet with 6 countries competing, if I recall. This years Golden Gloves tournament in the US was back in like April and it was in Chatanooga, Tennessee.

''And at the Casino Hinckley, Minnesota, he stunned a large audience by defeating one of America's top rising fighters, Craig Butler, on points''

Never heard of him; but for this event they were trying to use the guys who won the US Golden Gloves tournament; or, if they were unavailable, a "suitable alternate". He must have been one who did fairly well at National Golden Gloves this year, because Hylon Williams is Golden Gloves champion; but he's at the Olympic Training Center as one of the alternates I believe sparring with Raynell Williams.
