I mean he must be to get knocked out by Margo the way he did in the 1st round, but its like Margo's fans say he wins fights with his chin, stamina and throwing 100 punches a round and no loaded gloves much like this fight. :-(
After his loss to Williams maybe he felt he needed to put bricks on his gloves against the mighty Golden Schlong.
Maybe he's been doing it all along? Don't think for one minute he couldn't have possibly done the same thing against Williams. That fight was in California, too.
i dunno, johnson was a damn good fighter in his day not a world class level but a good domestic fighter, and it was a shock to all that margo could stop golden that soon. also i felt it was a mild early stoppage margo was throwing but it wasnt immense pressure and johnson was just walking into shots and takign a break the rest of the round. but i could understand how a solid fighter coudl be dropped 2 times that quickly agaisnt margo if he needed an early stoppage against cotto, johnson and mosley would all make sense.
Golden Johnson was part of the Margo propoganda machine. He was brought in to make Margo look good after the ass whooping his daddy Paul Williams put on him. Golden Johnson was shot and fighting at a weight he had no business at he had most for his success at 135 not at 147.
Golden was an average sized lightweight. Margarito was one of the biggest and physically dominant welters around at the time, he could have knocked him out with queen sized mattress strapped to each hand.
Johnson was universally regarded as a faded, blown up ex-lightweight at the time he fought Margo. His prime was ages ago, when he fought Mosley for the title down at 135. He managed to score an upset over some prospect (I forget his name) and that briefly put him into the welterweight rankings, which got him the fight with Margo, who was looking for an easy "comeback" fight coming off his loss to Paul Williams - and that's exactly what he got.
Probably that was Oscar Diaz. He looked **** in that fight and showed he didnt belong at welter size wise. He however did land about 98% of the shots he through on the very average Diaz and in the end his face couldnt take anymore. Golden had an excellent left hook...straight out of the book it was. Thought I chuck in a random opinion there.
Johnson looked liek he had his nose broken, or something broken in his face when Margacheato knocked him down the first time. Something didn't look quite right about that whole thing.
