I think that could well be the case. In the case of Overeem (and I must admit I'm not that up on my MMA) what was his justification?

It just got me thinking, that say an athlete is given a TUE, is there then a secondary acceptable limit? Overeem had a ridiculous ratio of about 14:1 didn't he? Surely that wouldn't be consistent with medicinal use, as I would have thought the main aim of genuine medical testosterone was to bring you back into line with a regular healthy male. So even if he had applied for and been granted an exemption, surely that would still raise eyebrows and flag up?

I think when Chael Sonnen was granted a TUE he still had to remain within Nevada'd 6:1 ratio. It just meant that he was allowed to have synthetic testosterone in his system. However, Nevada's 6:1 ratio is a lot higher than allowed anywhere else.

A consistent 6:1 ratio is some serious gains on someone who is not using anything.

Just watched the Conte interview. I sort of realised most athletes took something but when you actually hear that's how it is, it is still disappointing.

Realistically they will find it almost impossible to clean up a smaller sport such as boxing, this is just gonna be the norm for athletics.

I know that this is a boxing forum, but if you have a bit of time this article is worth reading. Makes a pretty clear case for Rafa Nadal's doping habit for the last few years. Including how he regularly receives PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) therapy for injuries he suffers, which is strongly suspected as a way of bypassing failed drugs tests. It says:

"Over the past year, it has come out that this procedure is often used to mask doping. For example, recent revelations from the ongoing Spanish doping investigation known as Operation Galgo (Greyhound), show that the doctors involved were instructing athletes to fake joint injuries so that steroids could be injected intra-articularly."

After missing a tournament due to injuries, he instead received PRP treatment and returned shortly after having added 10mph onto his serve in the space of 2 months, something McEnroe said Nadal 'must have been secretly working on for years'. Nadal explained it as a simple change of his grip.

    Anyway, well worth a read:

If you're going to be taking PEDs and training 6 hours a day to get better at football I'd hope you'd be aiming a bit higher than 5 a side with your mates.

Unless you are really really bad to begin with.

    Really interesting that.

Makes you wonder about other sports and how rife they are with doping.

Regarding Montoya's alleged doubts over the practice of USADA, here is a quote by Victor Conte back in 2008 where he expresses the view that the USADA 'help out' US athletes to a certain extent:
