    DanielJFiasco; great point.

It's the technical regression that leads me to believe the old timers weren't on it. Same day weigh-in's, regular fighting and good technique jus would not be viable with a cycling process as well. I'm not sure being more muscular and therefore needing more oxygen to pump around your body would be a desirable process for an old timer anyway.

I might be wrong, just a theory.

Well, depends if they would be using in the same way as athletes these days are accused of, using a cocktail of drugs.

If so, I think it would be very beneficial. They would be fighting far more frequently, so testosterone and growth hormone would help to recover far quicker from injuries or just general physical exertion than they naturally would.

It also means that the fighters will be able to train with much greater intensity for longer, for example reaping the benefits which might be gained from 6 weeks of training in 4 weeks (wild guess :yep). This might enable a 'doped' athlete to work far longer on their technique than a clean athelete would.

The extra muscle gained from the steroids is compensated for by something like EPO, with would ensure that your body increases the amount of red blood cells produced to fuel the extra muscles.

Just my two cents. Basically I think that whatever sport you are in in whatever, a doping programme could be drawn up to ensure that you will benefit from beyond natural performance.

Thats why BALCO athletes used to be given a cocktail of steroids, growth hormone and EPO - steroids, growth hormone and EPO for the red blood cells. They also used to give their athletes anti-narcolepsy medicine which gave them ridiculous energy

Well I look at Hagler as a great example. He was never a big middleweight, he just preferred to stay closer to the weight, keep in shape between fights and not have to drain as much. The stamina and technique obviously meant more to him than having a few extra pounds in muscle, as he regularly dropped in a few lb's under the 160lb limit. He'd probably fight at welter today!

yep not all athletes need to take PEd for just muscle development i.e Maradonna with ephredine in his system and FIFA officals claiming he took a cocktail of 5 drugs

Montoya should name his anonymous "sources". If they aren't prepared to come out publicly, they have no credibility (or more likely don't exist). Seems like tabloid journalism to me.

I have my suspicions about Mayweather and HRT, but these claims are ludicrous. Two independent drug testing organisations are colluding with a boxing promotion company to allow Mayweather to dope? You wouldn't see that level of corruption in the third world, let alone America.

Everyone loves a good conspiracy theory. That's all this is.
