Can match this one for brutality? Basically, coupled with the seven rounds of the first one, this was nine rounds of Bowe being beaten to the point where he couldn't operate a motor vehicle or anything as complicated as one of the rest of his life. What fights equal that in brutality, sans ones where people are killed?
What about alis last couple of fights?,the holmes fight if i recall he was getting a pretty bad beating, did not holmes turn to the ref a few times, and ask him to stop the fight?
Dempsey Willard Marciano Walcott 1, and Marciano Charles 1. Both fighters were pretty battler at the end of there contest. Ali Fraizer 1 and III Louis Schmeling 1 Tyson Douglas on Tyson's part imo. Among other fights of couse. Jeff Fitz II.
Did you see the Ringside greatness knockouts with that POORLY color Dempsey Willard round 1?? It was pretty neat to see imo.
Much to the contrary, it made Golota an "exciting" fighter and Don King knew this. That is why he got those three subsequent title shots in 2003. But indeed, many people forgot how deadly Golota was rightfully seen before the Lewis fight. It turned out to be Lewis/Ruddock all over again. Interestingly, he was in a similar situation yet again before the Grant fight and again it was over inside of 2 rounds.
Bowe vs Golota II had the very best and very worst of heavyweight boxing all rolled into one. Golota gave Bowe a sustained beating. The carnage started when Golota nailed Bowe with a shot behind the ear. Bowe became dizzy and down.. When Bowe got up, the effects lingered and his balance was never the same. Bowe was fighting hurt, but he did not give up. Bowe then floored Golota in the mid rounds, only to see Golota come back and give Bowe a beating. The fight was probably close to being stopped. Most punchers would have stopped Bowe that night. Golota true colors were revealed as Bowe would not capitulate. Goltoa was cut, and came very close to quitting in his corner the round after he was kncoked down. As Bowe came back to make the mid to late rounds competitive, Golota threw several intentional low blows; he also hit Bowe with a nasty head butt earlier in the fight. The ending was a disgrace. The cowardly Golota freaked out and threw a low blow combination. The referee correctly DQ’d Golota. Bowe remained down. Many ring side observers felt there was some heavy acting on Bowe’s part to make the disqualification verdict seem more genuine. The police and security personnel flooded the ring and the isles of the stadium to prevent another fiasco.
I don't think the Grant fight was a similar situation. Grant did not have any wins that suggested he should be considered a match for Lewis.
Earnie despite that still says he doesn't think King's as bad as some other people in the fight game, or so he said. I know King's wife took care of Shaver's in some way after he had stopped fighting.
