Golota must be quite confident if he agreed to make this fight happen. I hope the decission was trully his and not King's or Ziggy's. Talk about diving head first. If you consider it, that's exactly what he did with Bowe. Going from Pu'ha to Big Daddy was a large step upwards, and Golota made his name then and there.Golota can rise to the occasion(eg., BOWE, GRANT, BYRD, RUIZ)but he must be weary of the clubbing canons, telegraphed from Peter. Peter is a hungry, determined fighter that has made something out of nothing (classic overachiever) and Golota is in his twilight, finally trying to put those talents consistently to good use against a premier fighter (classic underachiever). If this fight happens, I predict a bloody bout ala Golota vs. Corey Sanders. Peter - Golota will be a hell of a clash, worthy of primetime and regardless of the outcome, will end up surprising many.

One must point out that Peter's ONE DIMENSION, is Golota's Achile's heel. He can only overcome it, if he fights a fundamentally smart bout, essentially outpointing Peter, keeping proper distance and not losing focus. Throughout all his fighting years, I have witnessed the latter part in ONLY one primetime Golota fight (versus Byrd).

Ever since Bowe in 1995, Golota has fought with many top dogs in his weight class and has given a good account of himself in approximatly half of those fights. And yet a big win eludes him. In many of these fights, he has left lasting memories - surprise, disbelief, shame, embarassment. Quite frankly, with Golota you get it all, and that is why one cannot know what to expect from this fighter on any given night. That is why people are continously drawn towards him.

Im getting strange vibes about this possible bout..

I sense Galota getting that title that has eluded him for so long.

Call me crazy but im getting some weird vibe...

    Why so many title shots???

Why so many controversial title fights?

Im going to jump on the galota express for this 1..Sam peter aint no saviour to heavyweight boxing so i couldnt care less if he loses this one...

Welcome to the express. Strap in! The next few days will be a whirlwind of a ride! If Golota does not freeze like a panic stricken deer in the headlights in round 1, the clubbing caveman's days are numbered.

Is the fight on? If so, that is bull****.

Golota is nearly 60 years old, and I have calculated that 72% of his professional fights have been title shots.

Why not David Tua? Tua is on the comeback trail, has fought twice recently, (admittedly against bums), is in training, and has only 3 defeats on his record, to Ibeabuchi, Byrd and Lewis. All top-caliber opponents. He should have got the decision against Ike, was shut out against LL, and lost a clear decision, but not a blowout, against Byrd.

He holds knockout victories over guys like Ruiz, Rahman, Moorer and Maskaev. He has defeated TWO recognized world champions in under a minute's worth of fighting, Moorer in 30 seconds and Ruiz in under 20 seconds. He holds late-round knockouts over another two guys who went on to win one or more of the main belts.

He has had exactly ONE shot at ANY of the main belts, and that was against Lennox, who was possibly the worst matchup in heavyweight history for him.

    This is bull****.

Both Byrd and Lewis made Tua look like a bum. No offense to him, but that is the truth.

Neither Golota nor Tua deserve this, but if we are tossing credibility aside, Golota is the much bigger earner. In MSG? Forget it. However if this were in Chi-town it'd be sold out.

I'd still prefer Virchis or McCall, but money talks as usual. At least it won't be boring.

    First, I'm not offended.

Second, Brewster didn't make Golota look like a bum? Or faded Tyson, whose final victory over a name opponent was a 2nd round KO over Golota?

Third, Lewis is a top-5 ATG heavyweight who had spent the last few years dominating the division. He was almost a foot taller than Tua and put on one of the best fights of his career.

Fourth, Byrd makes a lot of guys look bad, and though I don't like to offer excuses, Tua's life and camp was in complete disarray leading up to the fight.

Fifth, Tua has many more victories over name opponents than Golota does, and Golota has had 10x as many opportunities to grab a title, and never managed it.

Sixth, it is VERY possible that Golota will get starched inside a round or two by Peter. Tua won't.

Seventh, Peter's flaws play RIGHT into Tua's strengths. Peter's power may be overrated. Tua's isn't. Samuel Peter won't be outboxing Tua like Lewis or Byrd did, he will be right there for Tua to hit. Peter-Tua is a guaranteed war. Peter-Golota may well be yet another humiliating implosion by Golota.

Peter-Tua is a better fight for the sport and for the fans than Peter-Golota.

I think Peter will knock Golota out, within the first six rounds.

Golota outboxes Peter for 11 rounds, then accidentally falls off his ringstool when sitting down between rounds and injures himself. Peter wins TKO12.

    That's Golota style :)

This might well be true, but he's still better than Maskaev.
