i saw chaguev/skelton....skeltons 40 yrs old....no ko.....i honestly think chaguev would get tkod by golota....:smoke:smoke:smoke
golota has a very good chance of winning the majority of rounds against chagaev, but it would not be a one sided fight by any means and he would be unlikely to get the nod fighting in germany, and I don't think he has enough left in the tank to knock him out
Chagaev is younger and hungrier. He has a good chin, and should be able to take Golota's punches, especially now that Golota has slowed down. It wouldn't be pretty, but I see Chagaev outworking Golota to win a fairly wide decision. 9 rounds to 3, 8 to 4, something like that. Golota seems a little more mentally stable than when he was young, but his apparent sanity has come too late in his career. Outpointing Matt Skelton in a reasonably competitive fight is still more impressive than outpointing Mike Mollo in a reasonably competitive fight.
That would be a nice bout to watch, but I'd still pick Chagaev to win. It makes sense to Chagaev, who's looking for easier title defenses and money.
Golota at the age of 40 doesn't move his body while throwing punches - usually throws strong and relatively sharp one-twos but then combines the worst left hook ever seen out of the lead left, straight right, it's like a heavy handed slap to end the 3 punch combo. He can be punishing at close range, breaking his opponent in between his arms with slams to the body. But the main reason, he wouldn't have a chance against Chagaev is because he simply has no defense for Ruslan's flank attack with volley punches - he would eat every single unorthodox punch from the Uzbek fast-handed, heavy-handed southpaw... But if he is to fight for any Heavyweight Strap, it would be Chagaev's and maybe even before the winner of Valuev-Lyakhovich does.
Chagaev didn't look impressive against Skelton because Skelton held/leaned on him all the time, but at the same time, Ruslan lost only three rounds or so. Outboxing a limited Mollo who was pretty much gassed after the 4th, is something else than an accomplished amateur like Chagaev. I'd rather see Chagaev taking on someone who is ranked higher, but most of all, i hope he wants to fight the winner of Wlad/Ibragimov after.
pretty much spot on there. his hands are so friggin slow, its unbelievable. ive soured on chagaev but he would win a wide decision. i don't think he has the power, style to get golota out of there at lest early.
