Bigger name than rahman imo. Just as big of a fanbase as toney imo. Also, the factor that anything could happen in a golota-wlad fight makes it much more interesting/promotional friendly IMO.
If Wlad takes Golota, just another reason why I don't understand why Wlad has haters...he would be taking the riskier fight. I personally, would rather see Rahman because it is a 2 time heavyweight champion that Wlad would decapitate. I also would like Toney because even though he is a heavyweight club fighter, he is an ATG and Wlad could split him in half.
Dont forget Golota-Grant. Remember, at that time Grant was the undefeated next big thing. When Grant and Golota fought Grant was an 8-1 favorite to beat Golota and he ended up getting thrashed for most of the fight until the end where Golota blew it. Exact same thing with the first Golota-Bowe fight. When the pressure's off, Golota performs very well.
After a first round knock at the hands of brewster, if i was wlad i would never give him a chance, let him earn it, tyson did the same, this guy shouldn't be fighting ray austin, let alone world champ, i rather see wlad fight the panther gomez, that would be a nice match up
better opponent clearly. name??? who knows. golota has something left and has the size to at least trouble wlad. rahman just hasn't looked good in a long while. toney, looked good in peter 1 fight, but that was a couple of years ago and he hasn't looked good since, plus he has no power and gives up 8 inches to wlad. no amount of 'shoulder rolls' and slurred trash talk would give toney a chance of avoiding eating a ton of jabs.
That would seem more what I expected...Golota was aiming for the WBA title. But hey, might as well go ahead and offer though.
Haye's fighting barrett. But more importantly, haye has to have 1-2 fights in division and help build hype for a super fight vs wlad
It's Rahman vs Wladimir being looked into, Golota is already set to fight Austin and the winner goes for Valuev.
As much as it pains me to say this, Golota is too damned slow for Wlad these days. If the fight happened four years ago, Golota would have had an outstanding chance of winning, but as is, I can't see him landing enough right hands to seriously trouble Wlad. Unless Golota's handspeed has improved since his fight with Mollo, I think this may be the end of the road for Andrew. But I'd still like to see the fight.
I think he stands a much better chance against Valuev. A guy like Golota is tailor-made for Wlad right now...too upright, too leadfooted, too slow.
I agree, he would stand a better chance against Valuev. The thing that kills me, is if Golota-Wlad had happened anywhere from 1999-2004, I think Golota probably wins.
