About the only kind of thread where more Bull shlt can be found than this one is probably one of red Rooster's Leonard bashing diatribes.
The problem was Golota didn't have time to mentally fully recuperate going in. Lewis-Golota was simply wrong place, wrong time. It should have never happened when it did because Andrew was fresh off of two back-to-back hard-fought, dramatic, losing efforts. From this he went right into a title fight with so much pressure riding on his shoulders as everyone was still talking about the low blows (this is the closest it comes to Bowe having shattered the Pole's confidence). Add this to the pressure to make the dream of millions of Poles come true. It's the kind of mix that made Golota's mind nearly pop. Then again, every fighter in that situation would. The promoters at the time (the Duvas) thought they were helping their guy by negotiating a match with Lewis but it's the worse thing they ever did for Golota. He would have been ready for Lewis in '98 at the soonest. The post-fight seizure was likely due to the shot of lidocaine Golota took in his achy knee before stepping into the ring. For the record, Andrew sued the doctor who administered the shot (Dr. Scott Katzman) and it ended in an out-of-court settlement of $1 million in Andrew's pocket. I think the circumstances and post-Bowe fallout is what really made Golota nervous.
i haven't read any of the previous posts. i figured the topic was a gag. anyone giving this a serious answer is as dumb as golata. the master of the polish uppercut did not have the psychological needs to be a fighter. he showed up to the lewis fight late and froze during the referee's instructions, and when the ref warned about low blows it was like marciano hearing head butts learning he could be disqualified....a major weapon in his attack was taken away.....and i feel foolish for replying to this one at all.
I'll take the guy who froze against prime ATG Lewis over the guy who froze and went out on his back against past prime Sanders.
Lol! Well for one, they don't refuse to have their mouth piece put back in when after they get cracked or the going gets tough! Two, they're smarter fighters with MUCH better credentials and amateur pedigrees. And three, they both (especially Wladimir) have better hand speed and power than Golota. Both Klitschkos knock Golota out or get him to refuse to answer the bell.
Agreed. I still can't grasp how someone would question weather or not a man who reigned the heavyweight division for the better part of 10 years was better than Andrew fvcking Golata. I'm not sure if this is a genuine obsession or a trolling effort. Hard to tell these days.
He wouldn't have picked up belt let alone make a defence of one had he turned pro in 1990 and would have been no better than a Frans Botha or Brian Neilson. Remember Mils Lane ref'd back then and he'd never get away with what he got away with in Germany.
Imagine Wlad going life and death with Bowe and then going straight into a fight with Lewis?? hahahah Wlad turned pro in 96 and even in the early 00's he was no way ever going to step into the ring with Lewis. It was completely inconceivable.
He beat the shlt out of Jameel McCline in Las Vegas with a respectable referee in Jay Nady and at least two veteran judges in Jerry Roth and Duane Ford. He beat Sam Peter the first time in Atlantic city with the highly respected Randy Neuman reffing. He destroyed Calvin Brock in Madison Square Garden with Wayne Kelly presiding. He beat Sultan Ibragimov at the Garden, again with Wayne Kelly calling the shots. He beat Phil Jackson in Vegas with Joe Cortez. He also beat plenty of other guys either in Germany or elsewhere but with respected officials present. But even with all these examples of different locations and highly regarded personnel, I'm sure your next move is to simply default to discrediting the opposition.
Wlad would have beaten that faded version of Bowe who was no longer with Eddie Futch, going through spells of gaining and dropping weight fast, and had already taken too many punches. A prime Wlad vs that 1996 Bowe would have looked similar to the Thompson fights.
LoL. .. Get a hold of yourself.. Wlad never beat the chit out of anybody. EVER. He is known for having the chit beaten out of him. I know you live in Klitschko fantasy land , but this is the truth. Period. And even if you did want to make a case he did , the MaCline fight isn't any proof of it. It was a tentative affair and the video will prove me right , not you. Peter was close to knocking him out every round and would have if he wasn't a fat useless BUM. Badly out of shape Cruiser Eddie Chambers handled Peter easier than Wlad. Fact. Going life and death with Peter proves 100% that he wouldn't have stood a chance during the 90's. Another lie. Brock was doing well before Wlads holding took its toll on his small frame. At the time of the stoppage Brock had out landed Wlad on power punches. 42% to Wlads 32% .. Wlads supposedly ATG jab landed a pitiful 62/218 . 28% connect rate. Brock was a Bum.. And Wlad was actually meant to fight NYC native Briggs that night , but flat out ducked him. Who was Briggs??? A 90's left over. That fight proved how much of a scared coward Wlad was. Afraid to engage a guy half his size who was also afraid to engage. A true low point in HW boxing that got Wlad the pansy thrown off HBO and thrown out of America Nope.. He couldn't even beat the ghost of Chris Byrd without holding and leaning. Same with Mormeck who was on his last legs and never fought again. http://www.boxingnews24.com/2012/03/wladimir-clinched-15-times-in-the-1st-round-against-mormeck/
Wlad doesn't beat any Bowe. Golota's head movement , slipping and rolling and inside pressure is what gave Bowe a good fight. Wlad only method of defence is hold and he isn't holding any Bowe to victory. Thompson was a useless old man. Still he gave Wlad hell and bust up his face with lead left hands http://en.espn.co.uk/PICTURES/CMS/39600/39696.2.jpg Look at him. Even when guys are defenceless he's still holding on for dear life
I deal in facts , not opinions. You got that little nugget in cos you knew i was coming back to clean house.
