I think it might have been an early 96 issue of the Ring or possibly Boxing Monthly i remember that 1% of readers voted him as the greatest heavyweight of all time in a vote where they had to simply pick one name.

Prior to Lewis blowing him out he was considered one of the top 1-3 heavies in the world and definately the baddest (remember Tyson hadn't bitten anyones ear at that point).

Whether that was because of how he looked in both Bowe fights or whether the constant overrating of Bowe led to an inflated opinion of Golota's performances I'm not sure.

Personally I did think Lewis would beat him as I just didn't think Golota would be able to out jab or constantly beat him to the punch as he did to Bowe constantly in both fights.

The Michael Grant fight is revealing though. He was a big underdog but was beating and had floored the much touted Grant but really just folded (he didn't seem hurt at all imo) and handed what in reality was a lesser fighter a victory. That said more to me about his mental make up than the Bowe or even Tyson fights.

That said Golota was OK. He had some skill, decent power and strength but he was ****ing unpredictable to say the least.

Golota could box well, but he was a a weak mind foul prone fighter, who never really beat anyone decent.

And a sloppy defense. Everybody hit him and he just didn't react well when tagged.

Why he was given any sort of chance against Brewster was a shock to me--that guy was all wrong for that Golata style and sure did make short work of him. I thought it'd go longer, but there was no way I saw Andrew absorbing that left hook from that guy and there was no way with his hand placement he was not going to get hit with it.

He is the ultimate loser ... anyone want to point out one big fight he ever won ? In addition, a quitter as well ... throw in an obvious juicer to boot as well ..

If i remember correctly, It was an overhand right by Tyson, that knocked any fight out of Golota

Aw poor Andrew, getting all headbutted by that bully Tyson.

Andrew should havepunched Tyson in the balls, and then seen what he got back in return

most of d time that overhand right seemed 2 me like a very good overhand elbow , 1 time it didn't . anyway tyson blatantly elbowed him in other occasions and possibly butted him .
Golota quit after rd 2 after tyson fouled repeatedly as usual .
Maybe if more fighters throughout history did d same when fouled against , d sport's rules would have been enforced more .
not his fault he didn't want 2 suffer a 1 sided fouling .
    tyson's balls r much lower than bowe's .

He obviously gave Andrew a taste of his own medicine. Just a case of a bully meeting his match.

I guess Andrew knows whats its like now, Tyson didnt foul as usual, Tyson knocked Golotas ass to the ground and Golota didnt want any. Golota got his comeuppance after what he did to Bowe

    Huh, outclassed Bowe ?

Why do you think that mental midget fouled in both fights ? Because that was the only way for this "genuine world class Hwt" to get Bowe off him .Outclassed my ass, no Golata low blows/blatant fouls and Bowe lays him out or Golata simply will quit and that is a legit as death and taxes and that was a Bowe not firing on all cylinders.

Golata wants to dish out but cannot take it , period, IMO despite his decent skills he is a total bum.

As far as the Tyson fight is concerned, lol, that fight was over at the weigh in when Golata wore sunglasses ...........

Golota was whipping a fat Bowe with ease in the first bout but the dumb **** couldn't stop hitting him low. But prior to that he was out jabbing, out landing and dominating every exchange.

The second fight apart from Bowe scoring a knockdown in the 5th (I think it was) Golota was absolutely destroying him. The fight could've easily been stopped in round two and you could make a case for Riddicks corner stopping the fight long before Golota got himself DQ'd. Golota was landing at an astonishing 70% connect ratio which basically means Bowe wasn't capable of defending himself but I reckon his corner was waiting Golota out to do something stupid and their patience paid off (to the detriment of Riddicks heath).:-(

Bowe-Golota 2 is one of the more one sided beatings you will see and if Golota had half an ounce of self control he would've won both fights as he was clearly the better man both nights. Bowe's years of poor conditioning, laziness and sloppy defensive skills caught up with him big time against the Pole and all the excuses about fouls can't hide the fact that Golota finished him as a fighter.

    ^

Dude you don't get it.............Golata fouled for the sole reason because he could not get Bowe off him....get it.....a better man does not resort to fouling out ......dominating what ?.......with every punch or combo he hit Bowe with Bowe came right back and for the 10000000000000000000000 time that is the reason that Bum fouled out......could have should have bla bla.....he can't take the heat period and again for the 10000000000000000000 time no constant low blows in both fights and even the washed up Bowe will make him quit or KO's him...........the proof is in the pudding see Lewis-Grant-Tyson-Brewster.......every single time he stepped up he either quit or got ko'ed. Fact.
LOL, even against featherduster Byrd and the Huggybear at times he froze.......

Bowe was a ****ing filthy fighter himself and constantly rabbit punched Golota in fight 1 (a common punch for Riddick throughout his career) but still couldn't come close to stopping Golota like you claim he would've done.

Face it buddy Golota was handing Riddick his arse x2 but was too mentally weak to capitalize on it. Fair play to Riddick because he endured a hellacious beating to win fight 2 but don't make it out it was only the fouls that kept him out of the fight.

There was plenty of legit fighting and exchanges over the course of the two fights to give a clear indication of Golota's superiority over Bowe. He was just physically and stylistically (but not mentally) better than Bowe at this point of his career.

I dont understand the mainstream thought on this forum that Golota was kicking Bowe's ass and he just decided to foul out because he had to get home or something. Golota fouled out because Bowe was fighting back hard and hurting Golota. Bowe had something to do with Golota fouling out.

We cant even Golota the benefit of the doubt, he didnt just quit against Bowe, he quit in quite a few fights.
