Larry Holmes doesn't rate anything, according to him Ali was no good either, he the kind of guy who'd turn down mila kunis because she had a hair out of place.
Agreed, and that's largely what led to the perception at the time. That said, Golota had a fine jab from like 95-99 (up until the accident following the Grant fight), and I think a lot of people forget that Andrew had deceptively fast hands when he was younger.
:yep I always wonder how Golota's career might have panned out had he hung on for that final - what was it? 3 minutes and 9 seconds - phase of the fight and got the points win over Bowe. Would his confidence have sky-rocketed? I sometimes also forget how big HBO was on Golota at that time. Incidentally, I still think that's a Lewis victory that gets underrated by most from his ledger.
He certainly did, and Bowe experienced it 1st hand. He was being thoroughly outjabbed by Golota. If Golota wasn't that messed up mentally, the sky would have been the limit.
Not really. Lewis just had the more intelligent approach. Golota was always vulnerable in the first few rounds. Both Tyson and Brewster exploited this mental weakness following the LL blueprint on Golota. Also Golota did show brilliance in other fights besides Bowe (Grant, Sanders, Byrd, Ruiz) and most of these were after that car accident which injured his shoulder and very obviously degraded his jab.
the grant fight proved golota had no heart. bowe suddenly became shot retroactively, after the golota fights. truth was, he ducked his biggest challenge ever, and was beaten into brain damage by a physically superior, mentally weak fighter.
They are ALWAYS fudged. I've seen bradley listed at 69 inches and 72inches hopkins recently measured only 71 inches. When guys are gaining/losing 3 inches per fight I wonder what is going on? You'd think the most it could differ by is 2 inches... thats even with using different ways of measuring lol.
I remember that night Lennox was beautifully badass , this was a true 50 / 50 fight and many in the UK had Golota. Lennox's best ever win. I was scared watching the fight knowing how Golota had man handled Bowe so effortlessly.
lennox, was more focused than riddick ever was. He, never had a fridge in his bedroom like riddick did he!!
