If you want a quick laugh just ask his fans what happened to Mexican style in the rematch. No matter the response its comedy.
Who did he not fight before he started fighting canelo? Ya he fought vanes but that was a short notice fight. He beat Jacob's and tried to fight saunders. Who?
There's at least five quotes, maybe more where Golovkin himself or his team are bragging about fighting anyone between 154-168. Canelo offered to fight him at a 155 CW before he ever fought at the full MW.. G said "nope" Ward offered to fight him at SMW no catchweights.. G said "nope" Tout begged for the fight for two years.. G didn't even acknowledge him. Lara begged for the fight as well.. G didn't even acknowledge him. Jacobs wanted the rematch.. G didn't even acknowledge him. Saunders was ready before the rematch, G said "nope" Derevyanchenko wanted to use his mandatory status against G and was willing to take the peanuts thrown at him.. G said "nope" Charlo continuously called out G. G said "nope" That's my only beef with G. Outside of that he's a talented fighter who chose the easier path over legacy fights. Now he only has one good win, one loss, and a bunch of wins against fighters no one will remember and that do not enhance his legacy.
I have an article that says $42 million for 2 fights!! and it's actually a ESB article! lol.. anyone else see it? seems like too much money to be true...
So Golovkin has to accept a cache weight from Canelo but can't demand a cache weight from Ward? Kind of hypocritical don't ya think. GGG has been tied up with Canelo since like 2016. If memory serves Oscar put the brakes on GGG fighting Saunders right before the first Canelo fight. Said if he fights Sainders then no fight with Canelo. The MW division was very weak during GGG's prime.
He doesn't have too at all, and he didn't. My point is simply that G had opportunities to have a better resume and legacy than what he has so far.
Ok so Ward rejected GGG at 164. Does that mean Ward Ducked? The money wasn't there a few years ago. When GGG fought Jacobs they had to figure out how to split 4 MIL.
Imo no he did not. The difference between Ward and G are that Ward actually has an impressive resume, and when G didn't want to fight him at 168 Ward moved up to LtHW and fought Kovalev, twice. Ward did not need G to enhance his legacy, G needed a name like Ward to enhance his.
