Firstly, according to the majority of knowledgeable fans and media, Canelo either lost or drew at best against at least one of the two between Lara and Trout, and a good amount (though probably not the majority) thought he lost to both Lara and Trout. The large majority of fans and media thought he lost both fights to GGG. He did beat Cotto, but an ageing one who while not shot, was definitely on the decline and nearing the end of his career. So out of all those names, the only one Canelo definitively beat was Cotto, and Canelo was prime while Cotto's had passed him by a while ago.

GGG definitively stopped and destroyed both Kell Brook and Vanes Martirosyan, like no one had before. And Vanes did something that Canelo couldnt in many peoples eyes -- drew with Lara.

Practically Canelo's whole career he's benefited in some way shape or form of corruption or a blatant bending of the rules and his name has been linked to numerous corruption, cheating, juicing scandals. GGG has never had that added security, his whole career hes pretty much accepted the fact that to officially get a win he has to stop his opponent. And what smoke poiits to any type of fire that is linked to his name?
