It will be interesting to find out what the legality of the language actually involved in the specifications of the signed agreement.

You would think Cotto would be smart enough to run the decision by his legal team, making sure he had a legal leg to stand on. If so, it can come down to specific wording and legal jargon. Otherwise, that would seem to indicate that Cotto ain't too bright.

Yeah, idk. It'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm not sure how much of a case Golovkin's has against Cotto but I can almost certainly say it's more than Oscars lol

Damn it must be rough having to interpret ambiguous contractual language while simultaneously training for a huge career defining fight.....cotto and Ggg are the renaissance men of boxing juggling pro boxing careers and legal actuary duties.....here I am thinking they have a team behind them handling the administrative stuff......smh @ the simpletons crying foul and playing judge & jury for the fighters as if they are the powers that be. 😑

Definitely more than Oscar's I'd venture to guess (but again, I'm no lawyer, and I don't know jack about contract law).

And if I correctly remember something I saw earlier in an article, I think it was suggested that Cotto might ask the WBC to reconsider their decision, indicating he realized it would be cheaper to pay now than drag out a case (as others have mentioned). But my brain is a little fried now, so I may not be remembering correctly, or I may be getting confused with something one of ESB's many legal experts said in one of these various threads.

But if I am sort of remembering correctly, that might indicate that Cotto has dropped the ball on this one.

I still think the heart of the situation stems from the corrupt nature of the WBC itself. Not that Cotto didn't perhaps amplify the situation. But if the WBC followed their own rules, wouldn't Cotto have had to face Golovkin immediately following the Sergio bout?

Not that I don't trust the Google translator, as I'm usually a big fanboy of all things Google - but how accurate are those things?

More accurate than most, but the wording could be screwed up sometimes...!!!

That's what I'm wondering, and for some reason I'm envisioning the scene from Seinfeld where Jerry had the deaf lip reader spy for George, and she screwed up "sleeping" with "sweeping".
