I think Oscar's grasping at straws here.

Incidentally, I was out earlier and saw Oscar on television on some ESPN show doing an interview (which was pretty long, surprisingly). I couldn't catch any of what he was saying because the volume was off in the bar, but I wonder if he was touching on this very same thing?

I would think Oscar probably would have a better case here, if the WBC had stripped Cotto and just given the belt to Gennady. But since Canelo can still actually WIN the title inside the ring by beating Cotto, I'd imagine this is just to be burdensome.

    Translated:

LAS VEGAS - The decision not to pay $ 800,000 to Gennady Golovkin by stepping aside and 300,000 sanction the WBC could have consequences of significance for the event this weekend, in which the only Mexico appears to be benefited Canelo Alvarez.

According to the report that Cotto had violated a confidentiality agreement on the agreement with Golovkin and WBC and this could cause a lawsuit, a couple of sources close to the event star in Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto said that the domino effect has begun .

On the one hand, it should be noted that according to one source, the division of percentage gains in pay per view was 55/45 in favor of Cotto because he was the world champion. Being known for refusing to pay the penalty, he demanded that Golden Boy Promotions percentages division is now 50/50. Cotto's team hoped that rates will remain.

It was reported that yesterday afternoon, Team Cotto asked the WBC to reconsider its position on the title, because they found it 'better' pay penalties that had been agreed that the fact 'lose' five percent on pay per view which will directly benefit Canelo Alvarez. The amount you want to pay the WBC Cotto was $ 125,000.
Golden Boy Promotions ruled to comment thereon by confidentiality clauses that exist on all these issues around the anticipated fight between Cotto and Canelo at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in this city.

After a couple of unsuccessful intense make rconsideraran position, Cotto and his staff sent a letter to WBC noting inconsistencies in the way in which they had taken the title and could initiate legal action against the organization. Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC holder, said he had no comment.

Friday night the city will play Kazakh Gennady Golovkin and his promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, one of the most affected, as they had agreed that he would receive $ 800,000, an amount that should not have been revealed by the clauses confidentiality, and that it could force a lawsuit.

Yeah this one's going to be a much tougher win because Canelo can still win the belt.

I think ultimately, Cotto will be on the hook for the 800k but this won't go anywhere.

Who knows what's coming up next? Win or lose, Cotto may well find just paying up now was worth avoiding the hassles. His lawyers will be eating well for awhile at this rate lol.

Agreed, across the board. But on that last point, the flip side is that Cotto might want to drag it alone and grind them out, costing them time and money, too, as if he ventures off into retirement (which at most, I see as probably being 1 fight beyond this).

Of course, he did. He knew the size of the sanctioning fee a long time ago.

Show me where I said anything about Cotto that wasn't 100% fact ? I'm sorry but you do not act like a grown man. When Cotto-Margarito 1 was happening I was really 50/50 on who I wanted to win. I knew Margarito could beat him tho. Then I saw the real Cotto . A whining :| prima donna lacking in cojones. I'm a fight fan I appreciate FIGHTERS!! not cheating cowards
For any of you old enough to remember this similar scenario happened with Lennox Lewis & Rid**** Bowe. Bowe & Newman wanted no part of Lewis they knew he had Bowe's #:good

WBC Prez Mauricio indicated in a recent interview with ESNEWS that the step-aside agreement between Golovkin and Cotto was SIGNED.
