It was bound to happen - Some boxing fan, armed with a video editor and love of boxing, has created a comprehensive video analysis of the fight, with all successful attacks recorded (in English, no less) GGGJ 1 round: 9:8 2 round: 6:4 3 round: 17:5 4 round: 27:9 5 round: 19:9 6 round: 10:9 7 round: 5:6 8 round: 13:11 9 round: 20:7 10 round: 16:18 11 round: 13:6 12 round: 16:6. Overall, 171:98 for Golovkin. Here is the video: This content is protected And the link to the original article (in Russian) http://www.sports.kz/news/pochemu-golovkin-deystvitelno-pobil-djeykobsa
To be fair, this is the same author that made a similar video back in the day "proving" that Pac beat Floyd, so I guess take this with a grain of salt.
I had it 115-113 Golovkin. I think it was more due to the shock of how well Daniel was doing, because I didn't expect him to last the distance. Watching the fight the second time cleared the air, GGG won convincingly. The scores in general are extremely accurate, which blew my mind. I am so used to corrupt and incompetent judges that seeing a score mirror mine was a refreshing change.
"more due to the shock of how well Daniel was doing,...." i think this is exactly right. We humans are not good at objectively assessing a result without the bias of expectation getting in the way. when i watched the fight live (didn't score it), after the final bell rung, i though damn, Jacobs pulled it off. That Jacobs survived 12 rounds against GGG was so far beyond my expectation that i conflated his remarkable performance with a victory. Like Peril, i viewed it a second time (and without audio) and had GGG 116 - 112. What's more, the (eight) rounds i had GGG up, were big rounds for him, but it's boxing, so best he gets is a "10" for it. Assessing the fight as a whole, not delimited by rounds (which obviously is not how you score a fight) looked even more to me like a solid GGG victory. what i also missed the first time i saw the fight was how much more efficient GGG was than Daniel (not sure how, if at all, this influences the judges' scoring though). For instance, CompuBox has % landed like so: GGG jabs: 29.5% power punches: 48.6% combined: 37.6% Daniel Jacobs jabs: 18.2% power punches: 38.8% combined: 32.3% and kudos to Peril for posting the link to the analysis and summarising the results in the initial post. This is the sort of things we need more of--because right or wrong, the methods are transparent so the result is at least honest, whether we agree or disagree with it
Judges have the single hardest and most difficult job in all of sports, except for the athletes themselves. How do they not let any expectations play with them ??? Watching that fight live, I thought it was close and competitive, little worried about the decision, especially after watching Roman getting screwed. Obviously my expectations of Jacobs being there till the end played a huge role. I along with most gave Jacob's extra credit for simply not folding. The fact is that fight wasn't close and wasn't truly competitive. And we **** and moan when judges "get it wrong" no hindsight and no further reviews for judges. In the end, ggg out boxed the boxer. Crazy how the trolls try claiming ggg exposed, all that's exposed is judging fights LIVE is almost impossible to get correctly
Video doesn't lie. It's not like he gave a written narrative of what transpired. The video of every round showed Floyd landing most of punches on Pac's gloves and how Pac was touching Floyd up the whole fight.
