Not really. As beloved as GGG is he still does not have the fanbase with the financial resume as Canelo. Remember that fights are first fought in the boardroom before the ring. Canelo's first PPV sold 2.2 million. He can coast on that forever. He managed to get 350,000 for Lara and Angulo. So GGG can sell out an arena but the tickets are economical (cheap). I have never been to a Canelo fight because his Veas fights are expensive. Canelo is still a big money heavyweight.
I don't think GGG will ever be the so called "A side" if him and Canelo end up fighting. I do think however that the pendulum is slowly shifting towards GGG. It's interesting when you look at the fighters social media accounts, Canelos is full of hateful comments calling him a chicken and urging him to fight GGG while GGGs is relatively tame and full of genuine fans. I know social media is mostly full of haters but it must account for something??
