In comparison the Wade fight did 1,325,000 at prime time so 843k at 5pm does seem very very good.

Never impressed with US viewer numbers in boxing, but I guess this is about what can be expected for the type of fight and hour.

For a fight that wasnt hyped at all stateside, at 5-6 pm EST time it s probably the max HBO would've expected.

I wonder what the UK numbers are ?
Over there the narative was completly different than here

Did someone spill the beans on this issue ?

No those aren't good numbers. They are pedestrian numbers. Not bad, not good.

400+ PPV sounds real good! I'm still getting over the energy in that arena. Man! GGG has to fight there more often!

So what are the good numbers?
HBO Boxing numbers have been down on a nearly yearly basis(2015 being an exception).

Yea I agree. Plus, Showtime numbers have been abysmal in the last year ; year and half. Its clear as crystal that May 2nd 2015 has hit hard the US boxing world. The rest of the world is doing fine.
This is why we need GGG vs Canelo asap and not in 4 years from now. Two GGG vs Canelo is even better.

I dont know that much about the politics behind HBO but the recent budget cuts are not the issue. The issue is poor match-making and PPV.
    Alvarez vs. Smith - PPV
    Kovalev vs. Ward - PPV
    Crawford vs. Postol - PPV
    Alvarez vs. Khan - PPV
Pacquiao vs Bradley III - PPV
    Gonzales vs. Cuadras
    Golovkin vs. Brook
    Ward vs. Brand
    Kovalev vs. Chilemba
    Martinez vs. Lomachenko
    Vargas vs. Salido
    Golovkin vs. Wade
    Ward vs. Barrera
    Crawford vs. Lundy
    Kovalev vs. Pascal II

Thats a lackluster year. Let´s say you are someone like me who just can´t afford to cough up 60 bucks for some poor PPV, what do we get? $14.99 per month to see exactly what? The high profile fights are all on PPV...
