We need to remember that a month ago we saw two of the very best welterweights collide in a close, exciting fight. Brooks biggest step up against one of those men had him winning a very comfortable decision with sharp punching and strong ring generalship. Brook is a huge welterweight; he's really a 154 masquerading at 147. If you think of him as a true 154 fighter, this fight is 6 pounds up. Not as big of a deal.

It's still a significant jump in weight. I'm not discounting the fact that he's never fought close to 160 and hasn't acclimatized. I think his natural size isn't too far off from 160 but having no fights there is obviously going to hamper him.

Still, this is a very good fight. Brook has the potential to outbox Golovkin, at least for some time. He has pretty good power, and history is a constant reminder that ANY man can be put down with the right shot. I still can't envision HOW he can win, but I think it's possible. Either way I expect a great fight. This isn't the massacre some have made it out to be. Brook is undefeated and has a champions mentality.

    I agree.

I don't get why this is such a terrible fight, but Golovkin v Canelo is the dream fight in boxing at the moment, because I would pick Brook over Canelo at any weight.

If Brook can handle the size of Golovkin, then I'd say Brook is more fundamentally sound than GGG.

    No it isn't.
I read so many evaluations that say Brook is going/having the potential to outbox Golovkin, but he hardly could outbox a crude fighter like Porter when he came at him, let alone someone like Golovkin. If anything GGG is a better technical fighter as Brook, in addation to all other advantages.

Brook won't stand a chance in hell

Brook handled Porter fairly easily. It wasn't close enough to have been a majority decision.

That said, GGG via KO. :bbb

I am not liking Brook's approach to this at all. He seems to be going out of his way to put on tons of weight, which does NOT bode well. His body won't be used to competing at this level at that weight. When this matchup was first announced I was thinking that we could potentially see the best Kell Brook we have ever seen. Now it doesn't look like we will get that, but you never know until fight night.

Brook could very well be the best WW in the world right now. I don't think he is, but I'm not too familiar with him. He is definitely a big WW and it isn't like GGG is a big MW so the weight won't be an issue. Actually, right now Brook weighs more than GGG but Brook seems to have just gotten fat lmao.

The bookies have this has Golovkin's closest fight ever.

    Which is astonishing to me.

Do the US bookies have it that way as well? Because with the British ones it's to be expected.

brook opened as a 7 to 1 dog vs golovkin. if this is the tightest odds golovkin has seen, then the oddsmakers must already think golovkin is levels above anyone who can challenge him.

That's a fair point, unfortunately I don't know much about Golovkin's history with US bookies. I mostly follow British ones.

Right now, it looks like Vegas seems to have the Brook-Golovkin fight at pretty similar odds, but it is a tad wider than under British bookies.

odds for canelo vs ggg are at about 3.5 to one in ggg's favor, so basically, they see brook as having half the chances of winning that canelo has.
