When this fight was first announced there was a lot of negative reaction from fight fans. But as the fight week approached there seemed to be a lot of those same guys getting excited for the fight. I'm just wondering what the atmosphere/buzz is like surrounding this fight around the UK?? Is it the biggest fight of the year? What's the last fight you can remember that was as big or bigger than this fight?
Are you sure it's the same guys? People often go on forums read an opinion, see a contrasting one and view it as the personified forum that has changed it's mind rather than just 2 opinions from the same place What I will say is that more people seem to be giving brook some form of chance the closer the fight gets The fight feels pretty big and looks to have a portion of the 'casuals' interested. Arguable which is bigger between this and Fury v Klit. I'd say it's either the biggest since Joshua Martin, or if it's bigger than that then it's the biggest since Froch Groves 2
All thanks to Sky Sports... They really are the saviour of boxing. At first, I disliked the fight. Thought it was an easy win for GGG. But as the fight approached I was thinking more and more how it would be for Brook to win. It's completely possible, an absolutely great matchup which I don't think we'll realise until the fight is over. I've never looked so forward to a fight.
I think it's bigger than Fury-Wlad, and definitely Joshua-Martin. The casuals are lapping it up. This fight is being advertised everywhere. I know loads of casuals who are going to pubs, snooker halls and house parties etc to watch it. There's a huge buzz surrounding the fight. It's huge news on social media etc. I think it's on a par with Froch-Groves 2. I think the PPV numbers will be good.
Sky do a great job with their promotion. They're much bigger than BoxNation. They pull in a lot more customers.
GGG defending his title on our shores, yes it is big, i don't think it will outdo Tyson/Wlad2 in its buildup.
It's a great fight tbh. Always has been. Two of the most avoided fighters in heir prime. Both at the same weight jousting for pugilist supremecy . This is what baaxing is about
IDK about the people on this board. Who I meant by that when I said it were pro boxers, retired boxers, or "boxing analysts" interviews that I've read or seen on YouTube.
I'm a Brit in France. I am that excited I spent 3 hours setting up kodi to watch it. Turns out the fight is free on telly! And I am as pleased as punch let me tell you! Come on special K. I think its a possible FOTY.
It's called exposure and hype amongst casual fans - If you can call them fans... I doubt these people could name 5 welterweight or even 3 middleweights. Same people who are on Anthony Joshua's hype wagon.
Are you guys talking about Klitschko-Fury 1 or Fury-Klitschko 2 when you say its either bigger or not. I mean the 2nd fight is like a month and a half away and I've seen like 2 articles online about the fight. So IDK how the buildup is that spectacular for the rematch in terms of talk about it, promotion and stuff like that.
Something interesting will have to happen in the build up, because BoxNation's promotion won't get the attention that Sky Sports' does.
GGG is always exciting to watch, unlike many other supposed P4P kings, and its good that he has managed to get a decent opponent in Brook, because most of the guys he should be fighting are too scared to fight him. Well done to Brook for showing a huge set of balls.
I suppose depends if you mean only commercially. With Skysports fully behind this one it's always going get more screentime. A boxing purist judging a fight as a fight and nothing else might tell you that the Fury v Wlad match is a more legitimate fight
Even though I thought the first match was boring I am pretty excited about the rematch to see if Wladimir will be able to change anything up from the last time they met. But I guess this fight is happening October 29th and there's only been like 1 or 2 articles on this site and this is a site dedicated to boxing lol.
